Remember the 3 W's: Wear a Mask, Watch Your Distance, Wash Your Hands
From the Principal's Desk
This week was another fun-filled and exciting week. Students were able to exercise their right to vote for our Lincoln Leopard mascot name, our true school colors, and had fun watching basketball during lunch to kick off March Madness. The winners of the election are in the image to the left. We even had many dress up in festive green for St. Patrick's Day and a Student Council-led Kahoot Wednesday afternoon.
As we approach Spring Break and warmer weather we still want to emphasize our safety protocols for our students. Please make sure they wash their hands, remain six feet socially distanced, and wear their masks--this way we can continue to stay healthy and in school.
Happy Birthday to our Remote Students!
The PTO has a special birthday gift for all our Lincoln Leopards! Any remote student that has a birthday in the months of August through March and has not picked up their birthday bag at the school, please come by at your convenience during office hours to pick it up!
Calling All Girls in Grades 3-5--Spring Girls on the Run
Girls on the run is coming to Lincoln this Spring. If you are not familiar with this great program please click on the links below to see a video and the information.
https://www.gotrchicago.org/Our-Impact
Girls on the Run reaches girls at a critical stage, strengthening their confidence at a time when society begins to tell them they can’t. Underscoring the important connection between physical and emotional health, our program addresses the whole girl when she needs it the most.
At this time, we are gauging interest, it is an 8-10 week program that embeds social-emotional learning and support with training for a 5 K. The club will meet on Mondays and Friday immediately after dismissal, girls will have a snack from 1:40-2:00 and then the meeting will be from 2:00-about 3:30 or so. We plan to begin immediately after spring break with an informational meeting on Tuesday April 6, via Google meet at 6:30. We are considering a run the week of May 16 or the following weekend. Specific information will be forthcoming as we have registration online through GOTR. If you fill out the google form we will send you the link to register.
We are excited to have 4 coaches and me, they are Ms. Schilb, Ms. Drews, Ms. Semeneck, and Ms. Kappele—this will be an energetic positive experience for girls in grades 3-5.
Can you please complete the survey linked here, this will help inform our planning for the upcoming season? Usually, the program culminates with a GOTR 5k, but this year they are doing a virtual celebration and we will supplement our program by either looking for running a local 5 K, which may be an additional cost—or plan one for our program.

Also fifth graders-
Calling all 5th-grade parents. Please join Lincoln Elementary in participation with the Lincoln PTO and pay tribute to the 5th grade class. We would like to start a new tradition and provide a yearbook page that has side by side pictures of current fifth graders next to their kindergarten picture. If you can please email pictures from their kindergarten year along with pictures of their fifth grade year to Mludeks@yahoo.com. If your fifth grader was not in the 303 school district during kindergarten, that is ok. Please provide any picture that you can during or close to their kindergarten year. If you have any questions, please reach out to our yearbook committee chair Monica Pallares at Mludeks@yahoo.com.
All pictures must be submitted by April 19th, 2021.
