QR Code Grafiti Walk
What is it?
Prepare QR codes attached to videos, articles, and images related to your topic of study. Place QR codes around the room on paper with room to write and give groups of students different colored markers. Students circulate around the room scanning their code, discussing, and then writing their answers and insights on the chart paper. Pull students back into a whole group setting and facilitate a discussion to debrief the activity.
How can I change this to work for my classroom?
You could have students scan the resource and then have an additional QR code link for that resource where they write their thoughts- perhaps a padlet or google doc.
Another idea would be to have the QR code scan to a MindMup (thinking map program though google) with the resource at the center- and students have to create a bubble map or tree of their thoughts around the resource.
Content Specific Ideas
- Have students "scan" the answer and tell what the problem could be relating to the operation you are learning about.
ELA:
- Have students scan images to build background knowledge about a particular nonfiction/informational topic before reading.
- Have students scan a quote from the text and make inferences or predictions based on that quote.
- You could have students scan the QR code to a "character's name" and then they have to list character traits tied to text evidence.
Science:
- Review vocabulary by scanning the QR code to a word and then using examples to explain the word in context
