Russia's or formally Russian Federation is located in the northern part of Eurasia. Russia is the largest country in the world that covers a total area of 17,098,242 and it shares its land boundary with 14 neighboring countries.

In 1962, the arms race between Soviet Union and United States was escalating. Soviet missiles were still only powerful enough to be launched against Europe but U.S. missiles were capable of striking the entire Soviet Union from their installations in Turkey. In late April 1962, Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev conceived the idea of placing intermediate-range missiles in Cuba. A deployment in Cuba would double the Soviet strategic arsenal and provide a real deterrent to a potential U.S. attack against the Soviet Union. In 1980, Vladimir Vysotsky dies in Moscow. In 1991, THE SOVIET UNION ENDS!!!

Major agricultural crops are grain, sugar beets, sunflowers, potatoes, and flax. Currently Russian consists of the following competitive industries: oil and gas, mining, processing precious stones and metals, aircraft building, aerospace production, weapons and military machinery manufacture, electric engineering, pulp-and-paper production, automotive industry, transport, road and agriculture machinery production, light and foodstuffs industries.

The Moscow Kremlin, usually referred to as the Kremlin, is a fortified complex at the heart of Moscow, overlooking the Moskva River to the south, Saint Basil's Cathedral and Red Square to the east, and the Alexander Garden to the west. It is the best known of the kremlins and includes five palaces, four cathedrals, and the enclosing Kremlin Wall with Kremlin towers. The complex serves as the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation.
