Congratulations Class of 2024!
Graduation is one of the many milestones in a student's life. It can be an emotional time for both you, as parents, and your student. You have every reason to be happy and proud.
Both you and your student are to be commended for your hard work and achievement. Your student has accomplished much in their years at Park Hill High School. As parents, you have been a source of support and encouragement to your student, and we share in your pride at this important milestone in your student's life.
It is important to us to provide frequent and updated communication regarding our senior events and we are happy to provide this newsletter to keep you informed. This newsletter will be updated as new information comes in so check the newsletter on a regular basis. This newsletter link will also be posted on the PHHS website.
What You Need to Know About Graduation
- Directions to the venue can be found at the top of the newsletter.
- There is no reserved seating and no tickets.
- All guests are expected to remain seated. Please no standing at the railing.
- Graduates will be admitted to the building at 6:00 p.m.
- Guests will be admitted to the building at 6:15 p.m.
- Graduates and guests will enter at the East Entrance. Graduates will go to the lower level for staging. Guests will go to the upper level for seating.
- No outside food or drinks allowed in the venue. Concession stands will be open.
- All parking lots will be open and free of charge.
- Handicap Accessibility: Enter at the East Entrance. The elevator is located immediately behind the Guest Services desk. There will be handicap seating available however there are no extra wheelchairs available.
Graduation Dress Code
Graduates are to report to Hy-Vee dressed and ready to go in cap and gown.
- Caps and gowns are to be worn by all graduates.
- Graduates should wear dress shoes, dress shirts, ties and dresses.
- Caps are positioned level on the head with the tassel on the right.
- Caps & gowns must be worn as issued and not disfigured in any way (no tape, signs, arm bands, leis, flowers, unapproved cords, etc.).
- Approved cords that can be worn are for NHS, Thespians, AVID, Tri M, AP Capstone, Quill & Scroll, Debate and LEAD.
Graduation Programs
Graduation programs will NOT be handed out at graduation. Each graduate will receive 2 programs at graduation practice and there will be 2 programs in each graduate's diploma envelope. QR codes will be placed near the entrance of Hy-Vee Arena for guests who wish to scan the code to access the programs electronically.
Graduation Flowers
Bright Futures Graduation Flowers will be selling bouquets and gifts at graduation! They will have an assortment of bouquets created with your graduate in mind. Options are available from a half dozen to a full dozen roses in assorted colors. Graduation Teddy Bears will also be available for purchase. We hope this provides you with an easy and convenient opportunity to purchase an arrangement that truly expresses your feelings for your graduate. 20% of proceeds will benefit Park Hill High School.

Mid-Year Graduates
When our mid-year graduates leave PHHS/LEAD in December, they will no longer have a school-issued laptop to access their school email. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT MID-YEAR GRADS CONTINUE TO CHECK THEIR EMAIL TO KEEP UP WITH GRADUATION INFORMATION AND IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS.
After December, mid-year grads will be able to access their school email from a non PHHS-issued device in one of the following two ways:
- Go to the Park Hill School District portal website at http://portal.parkhill.k12.mo.us/ and click on the Outlook icon.
- Go to https://outlook.office.com/mail/ or any other Microsoft o365 login page and type their full school email address.
Senior Salutes - Last Day to Purchase is November 21st - DEADLINE HAS PASSED
Senior Salutes are a "celebratory" message that family members can add to the yearbook for their graduating student. Prices vary by size. Senior Salutes may be purchased at https://yearbooksforever.com . See the PHHS website or the PHHS Facebook page for details. For questions, please contact Mr. Sweney at sweneym@parkhill.k12.mo.us .
The last day to purchase senior salutes is November 21st. No orders will be accepted after the deadline.
Yearbook Distribution
Students who have not purchased a yearbook online at http://www.yearbookforever.com/ prior to April 26 may purchase directly from Mr. Sweney in room 350.

FAFSA Information Night - DEADLINE HAS PASSED
It appears the FAFSA release date for this year will be December 31st. We are hosting a FAFSA information and completion event on January 30, 2024 during Enrollment Night at Park Hill High School. Bring your questions, laptop computers and any needed documents (see below) and get assistance filling out the FAFSA. Our first session will begin at 6:30 and the second session will begin at 7:20 both in room 423, but we will strive for “open format” for completion help, so come when you are able on January 30th.
To complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®), you will need:
- Your Social Security Number
- Your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
- Your federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned. (Note: You may be able to transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.)
- Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
- Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
- An FSA ID to sign electronically - see a Dec. 8th “Class of 2024” Schoology post for more information on FSA ID. You can do this NOW!

Senior Decision Day
We will host our Senior Decision Day for the class of 2024 on May 1, 2024. This is an opportunity for us to celebrate our seniors and their postsecondary plans. We always compile a wish list of items that our students would take with them to their dorm room or maybe their first apartment and would LOVE your help in purchasing some of those items! We will have a drawing at our Senior Decision Day event for the prizes!
AVID Senior Night
AVID Senior Night will take place on Wednesday, May 1 in the Park Hill High School Auditorium from 7:00pm - 8:00pm. All senior AVID student and their families are invited to join!
PHHS Awards Recognition Ceremony
Our Scholarship Recognition Night is scheduled for May 8 at 7:00pm in the PHHS Auditorium. This is the event where we honor students on stage by reading the scholarships and awards that students have accepted.
Please add your student's scholarships and awards at the link below no later than 11:59pm on April 29.

Important Notes
- Students MUST have their school ID to purchase tickets and enter prom.
- Students MUST have all fines/fees paid to purchase tickets.
- Students MUST NOT be on the restricted list.
Advanced Placement Exams (AP)
Park Hill High School will be administering Advanced Placement (AP) exams on May 1 - May 12. A detailed schedule of dates, times and tests can be found by clicking on the link below.
The AP test fee is $100 per exam, except AP Research/AP Seminar which are $145. If your student signed the commitment form, they will be charged the test fee which will appear on their Infinite Campus account under the "Fees" tab.

Yearbook Distribution
Yearbooks will be distributed on Monday, May 13 during homeroom. Details to follow.
LEAD Senior Cording Ceremony
The LEAD Senior Cording Ceremony will be on Monday, May 13 at 6:30pm at the Park Hill South Auditorium. This venue will allow everyone to meet together without staggering groups.

Senior Fun Day will be Thursday, May 16 at English Landing Park. Time TBD. Details to follow.
Senior Breakfast and Graduation Practice
Friday, May 17!!
A free, optional breakfast will be served from 8:00AM - 8:45AM in the cafeteria.
All seniors who plan to participate in graduation are REQUIRED to attend graduation practice from 9:00AM - 11:00AM in the lower gym. Caps and gowns are not needed for practice.
This is also a good time for seniors to pay any remaining fines at the bookkeeping window.
Seniors who do not plan to participate in graduation should email Mrs. Melott at mailto:melottda@parkhill.k12.mo.us .
Diploma Distribution
Graduates will receive a blank red diploma holder on stage and will pick up a large packet containing their diploma after the ceremony at tables near the graduate seating area. All fines must be paid in full for a graduate to receive their diploma. If a student has a fine, they will be notified by the bookkeeper in mid-April and parents can also check fine status in Infinite Campus. If you will be paying by cash or check, please clear up these fines by noon on Friday, May 17. Fines collected by cash or check after noon on Friday will not be assessed to the students account until Monday, May 20 and the student will be unable to pick up their diploma after graduation. Fines paid by credit/debit card will be reflected on the student's IC account immediately.

Graduation 2024 DVD
The Park Hill Communications team will livestream the Park Hill High School graduation ceremony. If you would also like a hard copy DVD, orders will be available to purchase. The deadline to pay for a DVD in Infinite Campus is Friday, May 17. You may still purchase a DVD after May 17, but you must pay with a cash or check at District Office.
