Together....even when we aren't...
Parent-Teacher Conferences are a very energizing time for teachers. This year was markedly different-as most things have been in the 20-21 school year. Yet, the discussions that I heard and conversations I had still displayed a level of positivity and energy focused on students and learning.
Last Tuesday, at 2:55, each teacher at West Dodge Station was sitting in front of a computer, ready to meet and talk with all of you. The halls were quiet, and we didn't have the usual in and out of doors like a typical P-T conference evening. But, the purpose and power of the conversations were still the same. Teachers shared with me that they loved "meeting" families and building stronger connections.
We have been separated a lot this year, not just during conferences. But, I hope you all know that I value the community at West Dodge Station. Some day, we will be able to open up the doors for things like Open House and Parent Teacher Conferences. When that time comes, we will cherish the loud, crowded hallways and filled tiny chairs outside classroom pods. Until then, know that we value you and want to work together. Together we can...even when we aren't.
Together we can. Together we will.

Parents/guardians will need to screen their children at home each day for fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, etc. If symptomatic, students will not report to school and parents will need to consult a medical professional. Parents will need to contact the office to report the absence.
If your child (children) has an appointment or will be leaving for the day, please call ahead and even from the parking lot/drive thru lane to let us know that you are close or at the school. That way, we can call down to the classroom and have your child ready for you upon entering.
Over the past 2 weeks, I have spoken with all of the classes about chromebook and online safety. Each classroom was very responsive to the discussion of how to stay safe while online.
This year the WDS book fair is going to be from September 16th - 29th and all online. It will be important at this fall book fair to create an account so that the West Dodge media center can benefit from sales.
Please watch the videos below and let Jake McAllister know if you have any questions. Happy Reading!

In guidance, several classes have been working on focus and following directions. Here is a list of 100 directions I found for free on Teacher Pay Teacher by Easy Speechie. Try these out at home with your children of any age! Start with one step directions, then add one or two more for a bigger challenge. You can mix up the order plus add in some of your own ideas. Also let your kids challenge you to see how well you do! Have fun and remember to focus!!

PTO FUN RUN INFORMATION
West Dodge Station families! We’re only 1 week away from the kickoff of our West Dodge Station Fun Run fundraiser and our students, staff, and PTO are so excited!
The program begins on October 2 with the students participating in a Virtual Pep Rally at the school. Each classroom will be tuning in to a special video message about the program, learning about what they can do to help our school. But you can get started today to support our school - here’s how:
REGISTER your student(s) on funrun.com today. The site is now live and it takes 30 seconds! Search for West Dodge Station Elementary or use our school code 263-636.
Every share and donation makes a difference!
All students get to participate in the Fun Run Event on October 13, including our remote learners, regardless of financial participation. While we can not invite families and friends to the school that day to cheer them on, we know students will be motivated to do their best to help their school.
Did you know that our program comes with an incredible character development program? Our students will be learning about Teamwork, Care, Courage, Grit, and Celebration from REAL kid-athletes like them through the theme Sports City Now! Check out the trailer. https://vimeo.com/423816184/33e3223495
