This Week at MHS
Here's what is happening November 30th - December 4th
MHS Parents and Students,
The Fall State Testing window begins December 1st, right after we return from Thanksgiving break. Students that are currently enrolled in English 2, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and United States History. Please reference the calendar on our school website to see the dates for these tests. Due to the paper format provided by the state, all students -including digital- will be required to test at MHS. During this same time frame, students who are taking a State or Local Dual Credit course will also be taking their exams.
Final exams for MHS classes will be December 14th and 15th, even though these days are digital. Students will be expected to digitally attend 1st and 2nd on December 14th, and 3rd and 4th on December 15th.
Congratulations to our Football Team for their outstanding season! We are so proud of you, and the dedication and teamwork you brought to each game! This fall would not have been the same without our community coming together on Friday nights. Thank you to all the fans for cheering them on. An additional shout out to our student section for never letting us down. Go Rebels!

INFORMATION FOR SENIOR PARENTS
Senior parents: Isn't it hard to believe that your child is already a quarter of the way through his/her senior year of high school? College application season is here, and MHS school counselors want to remind you about some important processes and deadlines.
- Complete the FAFSA to receive financial aid like HOPE, TN Promise, and others. https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
- Complete the TN Promise Application by 12/1/20 to be eligible for two year's tuition free at a community college/technical school. www.tnpromise.gov
- Once applications are submitted be sure to list your colleges in SCOIR under "Applied" to have official documents submitted. Here is a helpful video that walks you through the steps of using Scoir to request documents: Scoir Process
- In your SCOIR account, be sure to add your personal email address under "Personal Details" in your profile and verify it. That allows colleges to connect your information more quickly.
The deadline for the TN Promise Scholarship Application has been extended to December 1, 2020. If you are a senior and haven't yet completed the TN Promise Scholarship application, you have a few more weeks to do so. Deadlines for the UT Promise Scholarship are quickly approaching! UT Promise is a last-dollar scholarship for students accepted into undergraduate programs at UT Knoxville, Chattanooga, Martin and Memphis. In addition to meeting TN Promise and UT Promise eligibility requirements, students must also be eligible for the Hope scholarship and have a household income of less than $50,000. UT Promise functions separately from TN Promise and can only be used for universities in the UT system. To learn more about the UT Promise scholarship visit the program webpage: https://tennessee.edu/ut-promise/
There are several school specific scholarships due on December 1st including: UT Dallas, Maryville College, University of VA, Boston University and Davidson College. As always, we encourage seniors to peruse the Scholarships tab on the MHS School Counseling 20-21 Canvas page.
