Q and A with Dr. Morgan and Staff
Questions for this column are questions of general interest submitted each month in Superintendent's Cabinet meetings.
Can our students get their own logins for Parent Portal to check grades instead of using their parents' logins? Yes, we have been working to put this in place and hope to be able to offer this for high school students before the end of the school year.
How is the district planning to disseminate information about the new electronic flyer system called Peachjar? How much will it cost for outside organizations and how do they use the system? The district will launch Peachjar on Friday, Feb. 27. Instead of sending paper copies home with students via backpacks or "Friday Folders," this system emails approved flyers to parents and also posts them online. In addition to providing schools with a new free communication tool for distribution of their own flyers, the program will save schools paper, reduce their copying costs and remove a significant administrative burden from office staff and teachers.
Schools and outside organizations that do not charge a fee for their services will be able to use Peachjar for free. Groups that charge a fee for their services will pay a service fee to post and distribute eflyers but it is typically much less than the cost to copy and deliver paper flyers. The actual cost depends on the length of time the flyer is posted and how many schools receive the eflyer. This link contains more information on pricing.
The district will use a variety of means to communicate about the new system including emails to organizations that have sent home flyers this school year and a SchoolMessenger message to all KCSD families.
If you have more questions, please contact Communications Director Mary Anne Byrd at 432-8416, ext. 1229.
