BHCS Charter Chatter
December
2022/2023 Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment Period:
BHCS will take applications for potential students starting January 4, in order to be considered in the March Lottery.
Students who wish to be considered for “Priority Status” will need to have applications in by January 31st. (Priority Status is for students who 1. are a child of staff member, 2. are a sibling of a current student, 3. live in the original Bethel Hill district, 4. have legacy priority - meaning they are a sibling of students that completed the highest grade offered by the charter school and were enrolled at least four years at the charter school)
If a priority student does not turn in an application by January 31st, they will be entered into the lottery as a non-priority applicant.
Required Parent Meeting:
There will not be any in-person meetings this year. We will provide a link for a “parent information meeting” pre-recorded video for parents to view.
Application:
All BHCS applications for admission will be online this year. In the event a family does not have access to the internet and/or working e-mail, they can come to the school to receive assistance with the application process.
Applications will be available on the BHCS website.
**Students who are still on our waiting list will need to fill out a newly updated application to be considered for the March lottery.**
Questions:
If there are questions, please contact the school. We look forward to continuing to serve our community and laying the foundation for individual excellence!

Helpful Hints for Winter
With the cooler weather comes the need for warmer clothing. Each year there is an abundance of coats, hats, gloves, etc. left behind that end up in the school's Lost and Found. Clearly labeling your student's winter clothing with their first and last name will greatly assist teachers and staff with identifying and returning lost items. If your student is missing an item (coat, hat, lunchbox, water bottle, etc.) please have them check the Lost and Found rack located in the main building.
Thank you in advance for your assistance!Ideas for Staying Engaged Over Winter Break
As you enjoy your winter break please remember to encourage students to read every day and look for ways to make family time a learning experience! To help with ideas and activities to promote literacy, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Office of Early Learning has developed and released “Literacy at Home.” This digital resource provides information specific to your child's grade level (pre-kindergarten through fifth grade). You can access this valuable resource by clicking the button below. Once on the site, you will need to click the text below the grade level you are interested in to access grade specific resources.
We hope you find this resource helpful and look forward to the New Year!
Thank You from S.T.E.A.M!!!
