Counselor News - Mrs. Haley
Greetings, George Hall family!
The beginning of the new school year has been exciting for students and staff! During the month of August, students learned about the many roles of the school counselor. 3rd-5th-grade students learned how to visit the school counselor through the self-referral process. In addition, students practiced how to assess their problem’s size and urgency.
September is Attendance Awareness month! Students are participating in a school-wide challenge throughout the month for a chance to enter a drawing for a classroom party, and a $100 gift card for classroom supplies! Please help your student’s classroom by ensuring 100% percent attendance and zero tardiness throughout September.
Students will begin their character education counseling lessons. September’s focus will be Positive Communication through active listening, I-messages, and apologies. Teachers will choose one student each month in their class who exemplified the monthly character trait. These students will receive a special reward from the counselor! I will continue to work with students individually and small group sessions for students who need additional academic or social-emotional support. If you would like your student to be considered for small group or individual counselor check-ins, don’t hesitate to contact me:
