From the Principal
It was another great week at Springman (minus the rain this morning during dropoff). The teachers continue to get more comfortable in this current learning environment and, in turn, are able to try more things with their lessons. This week a science teacher was able to utilize one of the science rooms for a science lab. Our 8th grade teachers are working on an interdisciplinary unit that not only covers multiple curricula, but also will allow students to work virtually with students outside of their cohorts. It is great to see the different lessons students are completing in class as teachers take it to the next level.
Looking forward, we are starting to plan for all the events we missed during the first months of school. On Tuesday, we will be running our drill day for students. Students will practice Fire, Lockdown, and Severe Weather drills while keeping our safety protocols in place. On November 9 and 13 we will be having picture day for students. In addition, we have one more week of collecting food for the Character Counts Food Drive. Please have students bring donations or drop them off at school during the day.
I hope everyone has an amazing weekend and Go Bears (on Monday night)!
Jason Kaiz
Principal

Halloween Guidelines
We want all of our students to have a fun and safe time this Halloween at school. In order to promote a safe and respectful environment, here are some reminders about our costume guidelines:
- Students must wear a mouth&nose face mask no matter what costume they wear.
- Face/body make-up along with hair coloring are welcome, but they must be applied at home, prior to coming to school.
- Students may not bring hair coloring or make up to apply at school or to share with others. Halloween masks may not be worn during the school day. Props should not be brought to school (including fake weapons).
- Costumes need to be consistent with our dress standards.
- Costumes should respect the dignity and sensitivities of all groups of people.
- Costumes should avoid representations that are inappropriately provocative, excessively violent, or that contain references to drugs or alcohol.

Cooler Weather is Coming
Safety Drill Information
District 34 will meet the state requirements to hold fire, weather and lockdown drills this year. In our hybrid environment, we have worked with the Glenview Police and Fire Departments to adapt the drills to keep the spacing and separation that are part of our health and safety protocols. Lockdown drills will include discussions with students about what would happen in possible scenarios, presented in an age-appropriate way.
Our fall drills will be held on Tuesday October 27 and Thursday October 29.
Around Springman
Mr. Harner and Mr. Kieronski got students in the East Gym working hard this week during Physical Education class!
Our resident wildlife enjoyed the nearly empty parking lot on Wednesday while no students were in attendance.
