school news
IXL club starts next week, September 16th from 8:15 to 8:45 am Monday through Thursday and will be in the Computer Lab.
September is ATTENDANCE AWARENESS MONTH!
Mary Bryan’s daily attendance rate is around 96%. We can do better!
Did you know?
- Missing 10% of the school year can make it harder to learn to read and make academic progress.
- 3/4ths of students who are chronically absent in 6th grade will dropout of high school
- 88% of students with good attendance (missed 5 or fewer days) graduated vs. 24% who missed 18 or more days per year
Absences can add up fast: Missing 1 day every two weeks = 20 days per year = 4 weeks per year = Nearly 1.5 YEARS of school over a child’s time in school (Kindergarten through 12th).
Good attendance contributes to students doing well in school and eventually in the workplace.

The students of Mary Bryan Elementary are continuing to explore STEM concepts during Project Lead The Way. First grade and second grade developed an understanding of structure and function to engineer their own paintbrush. Third grade explored with Scratch to code a multiple ending story while forth grade constructed a safety restraint system to protect an egg during a vehicle collision. The leaders of our school, fifth grade, are building their knowledge of communicable illnesses to reduce the spread of germs during the upcoming cold season. Congratulations to these spotlight students who demonstrated perseverance, innovative thinking, and kindness during their time in PLTW.
