*HIGHLIGHTED EVENTS*
Congratulations 6th Grade Class of 2022-23!
Congratulations to our 2022-23 Liberty Eagle Sixth Grade Class! Your seven-year journey through elementary school is something to be very proud of, enjoy this accomplishment, revel in it. You have worked so hard to get to this moment, and not just you, your family, and friends too. Whether you started kindergarten as an Eagle, or joined the Liberty family along the way, you have accomplished much and dedicated yourself to learning and growing, being the best you can be, every day. Your elementary school journey was the place where your classmates became your friends, and you developed close friendships. This place is where your teachers watched you grow up through the years, and you learned about writing, reading, science, math, and more. This is the place where you experienced new places and saw new things, while on special field trips. There are a lot of memories in your elementary journey, and for some of you the years may have flown by, but you can remember this journey and hold it in your heart for a lifetime. You can remember and hold onto your friends, you can remember the lessons learned, you can treasure the moments you have experienced and made. It is hard to believe that we will be saying goodbye to our Liberty class of 2022-23 come May 25th, but we all know that for you it is not the end, but a new beginning. Elementary school may be coming to an end, but your future is ahead of you, and it is bright and exciting, even with all the unknowns. We wish you all the best and want you to always know that no matter where you go, wherever your future journey takes you, the Liberty Family is proud of you! Always remember, “Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle!”
Also, a special thank you to PTO for sponsoring the purchase of the 6th Grade yard signs!

Battle of the Books Winners!
Our CTA Liberty Battle of the Books Club had an amazing year. Twelve teams participated with our winning team of Ailey Mejia, Lucy Schwarz, and Paul Schwarz finishing their battles with a perfect score. The team represented CTA Liberty at the Chandler Semi-finals on April 19th and placed second after scoring a perfect score and missing one question in the tie-breaker round. Then on April 26th, they placed second again in the Chandler finals after missing only one question and answering eight correct tie-breaker questions. Ailey, Lucy, and Paul will now represent not only CTA Liberty, but the Chandler chapter at Regionals on Wednesday, May 3rd at the Chandler Library Downtown. We are so proud of these three students. Their hard work, dedication, focus, and poise under pressure is inspiring! When answering questions at the battles, they make it seem effortless! You could here the collective sighs and gasps from their families, Mrs. Tollefson, Mr. Smith, and Ms. Lerma at the battles as they answered each question. It is a nail biting event!
Battle of the Books is a club for fifth and sixth graders. Students form teams with up to three students. They commit to reading the twelve selected Battle books and participate in three trivia question battles. For more information, email Mrs. Tollefson at tollefson.kristin@cusd80.com.

Importance of School Attendance
Timely school attendance matters everyday, and our parents can make a difference in sharing how important it is to go to school with their children. See you in class soon! https://bit.ly/3w3YZwc
The US Department of Education states as many as one in six students are considered chronically absent. But CUSD is committed to helping students and families with school attendance.
The positive impact of being in school everyday is evident. It is a definite predictor of student outcomes. Let's give all our kids a chance by being on time everyday and continue to introduce them to hands-on, memorable learning experiences.
If your student is absent, please be sure you call the attendance line which is available 24 hours a day, to report the absence.
