Jupiter Updates
May 26, 2020
From the Desk of Mrs. Troisi
Hello Jupiter Families,
Can you believe that we are in the last week of school? The last day for students is Thursday, May 28. It is important for students to continue to log on to FOCUS and click the "I'm Present" button so that they are not marked absent for the last three days of school.
We are collecting laptops and hot spots on Friday of this week. In addition, families can pick up their child's personal belongings Friday or the following week. Please see the schedule below for more information.
We are currently accepting registration for the 2020-2021 school year. We are encouraging digital registration, however we do have paper packets available upon request.
Have a great week!
In Partnership,
Sherie Troisi, Principal
Registration Information
As we look forward to the opening of the 2020/21 school year, it is time once again, to complete our registration paperwork to ensure we have the most current and accurate information on your child(ren). This is normally handled with take-home packets, but it will come as no surprise that we will be handling this process, as much as possible, digitally this year.
Below you will find a link to the fillable pdf forms including all the yearly mandatory registration documents. Please complete and submit these documents by May 22, 2020.
There are several steps to the process:
First, download and complete documents for each school-age child. When it is complete, (and if you wish to send electronically) please save your document with your child’s last name.first name. For example if your child’s name is John Smith, you would save your document as smith.john.
The next step is to send the information to the school. There are three ways you can return this information to us.
- Print the entire document out and mail it to the school at 950 Tupelo Rd. SW, Palm Bay, Florida 32908
- Print the entire document and hand deliver it to the school.
- Email the packet, using the naming convention outlined above, to JupiterElementary@brevardschools.org
While we remain vigilant about the security of all our platforms, including e-mail, we are also aware systems can be compromised. If there is any information included in the registration packet you are concerned about sharing across e-mail, please use one of the other two options available.
Although we do not know exactly what the start of school might look like next year, we want to be prepared regardless of this uncertainty. To that end, our first step is the submission of complete and accurate registration paperwork submitted by May 22, 2020. As soon as we are given further direction from the state, we will be able to provide more information about the rest of the registration process.
Paper registration packets are available upon request. Please call Mrs. Wanca at 321-952-5990 to request your packets.
Returning Devices
Student Property
Student property will be distributed via the car loop June 2-4, 2020. We will also have a book drop available at the same time for families to return library books. Last names will be used to determine pick up days. Families with multiple last names can pick the day that works best for them. Items will be placed in the trunk to limit contact. Pick up hours are 8:00-10:00 and 1:30-3:30 each day.
Jupiter's Summer Online Learning Opportunity
Students in grades K-6 are invited to participate in Jupiter’s summer learning program. The goal is to help prevent the summer slide for students. Students will be engaged in reading, math, writing, and science activities.
- Students will use i-Ready reading and math for 45 minutes per week to continue to work ONLY on their path lessons. There will be no teacher assigned lessons.
- Students will have access to the MyOn and SORA digital libraries through their student launchpad to be able to read books at home.
- Students will be provided writing prompts to complete their weekly writing tasks. They can either use a book they read digitally or one that they have access to in their home. Students will also keep a log showing that they are reading 30 minutes a day through the month of June.
- Science activities will be optional, but at-home options will be provided to all students.
- Students who complete their i-Ready my path minutes for the month of June will be invited to a special celebration when we return to school in the fall. Students who keep a log of their writing prompts and science reflections will receive an additional prize! Students will turn this log in to their new teacher in the fall.
Please contact your child’s teacher and/or Mrs. Cirino or Ms. Lopez if you are interested in having your child participate in this online summer learning opportunity.
We look forward to working with your family during the month June!
