Library Lessons

We have seen all language arts classes at least twice this year. We have shown students how to use Destiny to locate books in the library. The students are able to check their grades in Skyward. We have also shown most classes the Guerrilla Games presentation to recruit people for the district-wide Lone Star competition being held on March 1st. Lone Star books are flying out the door!

We began the Bookmark Design Contest and the kids are enjoying creating bookmarks! Students have until October 31st to turn in completed bookmarks. We have some good ones so far!

Four Houses of Fairview

The students and staff of Fairview Junior High have been divided into four houses: Merlin, Taita, Nankeen, and Aplomado. Each house is named after a type of falcon. We are competing as houses to see who can earn the most points each nine weeks. Points are earned by taking and passing AR tests, turning in Hearbeat tickets to your box in the cafeteria, attending home sporting events, and having the best attendance record.

Reading Doors

Teachers and Staff are bragging out their reading by putting book covers on their doors when they have finished a book. Students can see what we have been reading and talk to them about books. We are hoping to set a good example to motivate students to read!

Library Visits

We have had 1,533 students visit the library with a pass from their teacher, and seen 28 classes in 2 months! The students have checked out 2,831 books so far!
