Emergency Go Home Drill - This Friday, October 13th
This drill is incredibly important as it allows all parents and the school to know that every child will be safe in the case of an emergency evacuation of the school. Please note the following to make sure that this drill goes smoothly:
· Before the drill — Double check your child’s emergency go home location to make sure that it is accurate. If it is not accurate contact the school immediately to change it to the correct location.
· On the day of the drill—Please do not call the school, or come to the school to pick up your child. In the event of a true emergency you would not be able to do this and communication with the school in this way creates a danger to the evacuation of the building and our ability to maintain safe supervision of all students.
· After the drill—If you notice something that didn’t go well, or something that did go well, please don’t hesitate to contact the school to provide us information of how to improve and make our process even more safe and efficient for children and their families.
Open House this Thursday from 6-7pm
Building relationships is one of the corner stones for a successful school year for our students. Please enjoy the time at school and let your child brag about his/her hard work to succeed!
A note from Mrs. DeCamp
We believe the school is a vital component of the community in which all stakeholders are actively involved, aware and engaged.
We have had an amazing start to the 2017-2018 school year! We have so many wonderful things happening in our school already. Teachers and students are diving deep into really important work!
One of the most important components of your child's education is the communication between home and school. Teachers and parents that work together see a lot of success with their students. We welcome your calls, emails, and messages!
Another great way for parents to communicate with the school is via text message using free services such as "Remind!" Many of our staff utilize these already to communicate with families! Talk with your teachers, go to Remind.com, or download the free "Remind" app to search for our school to find out who uses this to help support the connection between school and home!
Food Bank of the Southern Tier Back Pack Program
Each week, the children will be discreetly provided a bag of non-perishable food for her or her to eat over the weekend. If you are interested in participating in this program, please contact Mrs. DeCamp at (607) 527-9800.
Community Use of the Pool!
Open Swims - will continue to be on Wednesdays from 6:30 – 8:00pm. Cost is $1.00 per student and $2.00 per adult.
*REMEMBER – every child needs to be signed in properly. Any elementary age child or younger needs to have an adult present at all times. If there is none, the child will not be allowed to swim.
Pool parties can be booked on open swim nights. Fill out a facility use form that can be found on the school website and return!
Lap Swims – There has been a change! Lap Swims are now held only on Thursdays from 6:30-7:30pm. Cost is $2.00 for an adult $1.00 for student.
*REMEMBER – This is a lap swim for exercise and training purposes only. High school students may attend as long as they use the time for its attended purposes.
**NOTICE** - Pool is only open when school is in session. If for any reason an open or lap swim needs to be cancelled, it will be posted on the school website as well as signs posted. This may be common during the winter months as their will be conflicts with use for the school swim team. Also, keep in mind that some issues occur late in the day, such as a chemical imbalance making it too late to get something posted on the website.
Rockin into Open House!
Dear CSCS Families,
This year the ART Department is encouraging all of our families to participate in our first annual “Rockin’ into Open House” Celebration. I am inviting all students to paint a rock at home with their family and bring it to school on the night of our CSCS Open House. The painted rock can be as simple or elaborate as you decide. All of our CSCS family’s rocks can be brought to school on the night of our CSCS Open House, Thursday, October 12th from 6-7 p.m. The rocks can be placed in the entryway mulched area for a beautiful collaborative “Rockin’ into Open House” exhibit.
If every family helps their child at home to create a one of a kind family rock, we will have nearly 500 beautiful artistic rocks on display. Our hopes are to continue this lively tradition year after year. It would be most helpful if you keep your rocks no bigger than an adult hand size. Feel free to sign and date your rock underneath with a black permanent sharpie. It will certainly be fun to look back at our rocks and see our family’s names and past dates on the back.
As a side note, the rocks will remain on display in our entryway area and are not to be confused with the “Steuben County Rocks” program. I look forward to seeing all the colorful creations.
Let’s celebrate by “Rockin’ into Open House!”
