Executive Director Update
Hope your new year is off to a great start!
Eyes on Safety
Construction has created some new challenges but we have created some great procedures around safety and are working closely with them to ensure that the campus is safe and secure.
This week we will be having a lock down drill. We have worked really hard to help the kids understand that a drill like this could be for a variety of reasons. We often practice sheltering in place which can look like locking the doors, closing the blinds and continuing quietly with the lessons. After the shelter in place we will practice evacuation drill. If you did not know, our kids are exceptionally good at this. We time these drills and can often get all students out, accounted for with all buildings cleared under 3 minutes. The students take a lot of pride in their evacuation times and celebrate together once it is complete. Feel free to check in with your students around these procedures.
Gala - When, Where, Why and How
The Gala is the most important night of the year for many reasons. The funds that are raised are just as important as the fun that is had. It is the only event of the year that celebrates us adults and the work we are doing together. It is also an essential fundraiser for the school and we appreciate any way that you can contribute whether it be donating auction items or attending and bidding, it all helps the school.
Please make sure to get your tickets soon, we are all excited to kick up our heels up together.

Executive Director Goals for 2020
One of the major tasks below is the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) The LCAP is a tool for local educational agencies to set goals, plan actions, and leverage resources to meet those goals to improve student outcomes. We are entering a new 3 year plan with an entirely new format. I will be sending out a School Climate Survey soon. We are always looking to improve our program and your feedback is helpful.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me at sarah@sdccs.org or stop on in and say hi.
