A Note from Mrs. Lee
Dear Parents,
I loved seeing many of you at Thanksgiving Feast! It's getting cold outside, but it was warm and giddy on the inside. Book Fair is gearing up for next week, and we look forward in seeing which books will sell the most.
Non-Perishable Food Drive
Canned food drive is going strong, and it will end on November 21st. It looks like Mr. Blatz and Coach Wester are winning so far. We will keep you posted.
Book Fair November 7-15
Book fair is coming soon, and that is super exciting for our students! They will have an opportunity to fill out their wish lists on November 8th. Please read below for more details.
To make this a success, we need volunteers. Please sign up here:

Absence Procedures
Thank you to all of our families and students who are working hard to be at school on time everyday! As a reminder, if your student is absent please call the Child Safe line to let our office know your student is out for the day. In addition, when your student returns to school, please send a signed note for the absence so it can be recorded as excused or unexcused. Without a parent note or doctor note, any absence is recorded as unexcused. If you have any questions about absences, please reach out to the office.
Parent Survey
Thank you parents for filling out the surveys. We have been reading every single one, and we are finding them very valuable. We appreciate your constructive feedback!

Morning Carpool
In case you missed the communication that was shared at the beginning of the year, I wanted to mention it again for clarification. We have moved the buses to the back of the building and took away the front road sign that required the Independence-origin traffic to go into the gym parking lot. We did this to alleviate confusion for all drivers. Russell Creek Drive in front of the school no longer has special restrictions to follow other than the normal city rules. In other words, drivers coming from both sides can turn into the gym or into the front carpool lane. However, we strongly recommend that the west bound drivers (coming from Independence) pull into the gym parking lot to minimize yielding. Back of the building is also an option. We appreciate your understanding.
Best practice is to leave home early to arrive at school by 7:30 am. There is no traffic at that time.
Backside (Soccer Field) Drop Off:
We have many parents and students that use the crosswalk in the morning. When dropping off your child in carpool, please do not stop on the crosswalk. Please look for pedestrians before driving pass it.

Nurses Corner
On announcements this week, we talked about wearing warmer clothes since the weather is getting cooler. It has been as low as 21 degrees when the students arrive at school, and I am asking that you send them in jeans, leggings, or some sort of long pants and a thick jacket. The school itself is sometimes a bit cooler than some kids prefer, so a small jacket or sweatshirt would be a good idea to leave in their locker. As always, I would recommend a change of clothes to be kept in their locker. With the weather turning cold, along comes rain and mud. Your student might need a change of clothes because of a fall outside and I may not have any that fit them. So please have them prepared so you don’t get a phone call. I appreciate the assistance.
