INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES

UPDATE - Meet the Teacher Day - August 19th

The district sent an email on Monday, July 13 regarding Utility Bill Online Verification and Meet the Teacher information and a link for you to sign up for times. There will be virtual times (which is highly suggested for older returning students) and in person appointments (which is highly suggested for young and new students).


The Meet the Teacher date has changed to August 19th BUT your appointment time will remain the same if you already signed up for the 12th!


We have been calling and emailing families to complete their Bill Verification As Soon As Possible so we can count on your child attending Sunset for the 2020-2021 school year! Please get that completed by MONDAY!!

ATTENTION ALL SUNSET FAMILIES

CAR RIDER PLUS - ALL FAMILIES!!!

New at Sunset this year we will have a Car Rider Tag for your student. Each family will have a tag that will hang from your mirror with an assigned number. This number will be entered by a teacher when you arrive and info sent into the building letting your child know you have arrived to pick them up. If your student is going to be a car rider please plan on coming to Sunset one of these 2 times to pick up your family's Tag. It will be very important that you have this before the start of school on Thursday.

ATTENTION ALL VIRTUAL EDMOND FAMILIES

DEVICE PICK-UP

If your student is participating in Virtual Edmond you will need to pick up a device for them from Sunset at one of these 2 times. Classes will start on Thursday, August 20th.


IF your student is part of the Blended A/B schedule they will get their device on Thursday and Friday at school.

ATTENTION ALL PREK AND KINDERGARTEN FAMILIES

SUPPLY DROP-OFF for PREK AND KINDERGARTEN

PreK and Kindergarten parents can bring their student’s school supplies BEFORE the first day of school. This will help alleviate some of the stress from the first day of school since parents will not be permitted to walk their child inside. Please have your child’s “BRING TO SCHOOL” supplies (crayons, glue sticks, paper, etc) in their backpack with their name on it and clearly marked on the outside of the bag. Place items such as wipes, tissues, Lysol Spray, ziplock bags, etc. in plastic sacks with your child’s name on it. Please include First and Last name on both.

Thursday, August 20th - FIRST IN-PERSON DAY for A Group


Friday, August 21st - FIRST IN-PERSON DAY for B Group


Parents will be notified on August 11th by 5:00 whether your Sunset student(s) will be in the A Group or the B Group.


All students in the same household will be in the same group - PreK - 12th grade


The school cannot change your child's group. Whatever Infinite Campus pulls, is the group your child will remain in for the duration of Blended Learning.

NEW SCHOOL HOURS

Early Start Schools (Sunset): 8:50 - 3:25

NEW HOURS! 8:50 am - 3:25 pm


Front doors and bus loop open at 8:20 for drop off. Teachers are on duty to provide supervision beginning at 8:20 am. Students are not to arrive before 8:20 and please do not leave students before this time. Boys and girls will go directly to their classrooms to allow for COVID safety measures. Students are allowed to eat breakfast in the cafeteria if parents wish. Students should arrive at the cafeteria before 8:40 in order to have time to eat and not to be late to class. Students are tardy at 8:50.


Office hours are held from 8:20-3:55


K-5

Morning Meetings begin at 8:50 (students should be in seats by this time)

Dismissal begins at 3:25


District Pre-K Times (early start schools)

Extended day Pre-K 8:50 to 2:55

Pre-K pickup will be at the Early Childhood Center (ECC) from 2:55-3:05

Mandatory - Label your child's belongings

Label all backpacks, jackets, and other outerwear clothing with the name of the owner. If an item is found with a name, it will be returned to the owner. Due to COVID safety measures, unlabeled items will NOT be placed in Lost and Found but will be disposed of and/or given to a local charitable organization periodically during the year.

Valuable items will be located in the Main Office.


We STRONGLY recommend that all lunches from home be brought in disposable bags or containers to be disposed of immediately following lunch!


All school supplies should be labeled with student names as there will be no sharing of personal supplies due to COVID safety measures.

Lunch and Recess

Lunch and Recess procedures will change slightly due to COVID safety measures.


Lunch: As long as possible, lunch will still be in the cafeteria. District procedures also state no parents can have breakfast or lunch with their child in the cafeteria this year.


* PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD'S LUNCH FROM HOME IN DISPOSABLE BAGS until further notice!


Recess: As long as possible, students will still have outside recess when weather permits. Classes will be assigned zones to remain in and the zones will rotate.

STUDENT FACE MASKS

Each child will need to bring a mask to school each day to wear when social distancing protocols cannot be followed. Students will not be required to wear their masks all day long, however. Wearing the mask is highly encouraged but not required in EPS elementary.

*Some times when masks should be worn in school- at the teacher table when social distancing to other students and teacher is not possible, at center time when social distancing is not possible, and any other small group time. Although masks are required for 1st - 5th grade students, they are highly recommended for ALL STUDENTS!


Student MASK material will need to follow the dress code policy for what is appropriate for school on a t-shirt or other outerwear.


*We are providing each student with a lanyard to attach their face masks to during the day!

Student Absences

Teachers will check student temperatures each day.


Please call in all student absences to the attendance line at 405-726-3875 by 9:00 for EACH day your student will be sick or late. If your student is going to be late to school for any reason, please make sure and let our office know ahead of time (if possible) by calling our attendance line by 9:00 that morning.


EARLY CHECKOUT is discouraged....(ESPECIALLY DURING BLENDED LEARNING) and will count towards their total absences.

Students will not be called out of class until a parent is present to sign them out. Please plan ahead for appointments, as students are learning from bell to bell and miss valuable instructional class time when checked out.
