Our teachers have been working tirelessly to prepare for a supportive and engaging virtual start to school on Tuesday morning of next week. We couldn't be more excited to welcome your children on the first day of school and hope your children are just as excited to see their teachers and peers next week. The information below will hopefully inform you as parents and guardians to the start of the 2020 school year at West.

Homeroom/Advisory Zoom Links

All students should have received and email from their homeroom teacher informing them about joining their Homeroom/Advisory google classroom page. Within the Homeroom/Advisory google classroom will be a Zoom link that they will select in order to join their homeroom at 7:50am on Tuesday September 8th. If you did not receive this email please select the First Day Help Zoom link below on Tuesday morning starting at 7:15am and we will help you get to where you need to go before homeroom begins at 7:50am. Our teachers are excited to see their homeroom students on Tuesday!

Grade Level Time Schedules

If students go into their own Google Classroom they should see each of their own class' Google Classroom tiles. A Zoom link to each class will be posted within each class tile. Students are expected to attend class virtually by selecting the Zoom link at the beginning of each class period. Below are each of the time schedules students will follow throughout their virtual day.

Our traditional schedules do not consist of any passing time between classes, however, each teacher will be providing students with at least 5 minutes of passing time between each class so students have an adequate amount of time to get to their next class. Our teachers are prepared to differentiate lessons in order to minimize the total amount of time students are on screens throughout the day. There will be times they will need to be on screen while the teacher is instructing, but there will also be times when they will do work independently or collaboratively when they may be off screen or just participating audibly.

During the beginning of the school year our advisory period is going to be an important time for students to attend music groups and access support services. If students are not doing these two things we want them to get comfortable, complete their school work, collaborate with their classmates, or seek out a teacher for help or assistance. We are continually looking to provide additional intervention, enrichment, character ed., study skills, and social emotional learning opportunities during this time throughout the year as well.

First Day Help Zoom Link

The office will be virtual for the first day of school for anyone that has concerns or questions throughout the day. The First Day Help Zoom Link will begin at 7:15am on the morning of Tuesday September 8th.
