What is Mitosis?
Mitosis is the process in cell division in which the nucleus divides, making another cell.
First Step: Interphase
Longest part of the cell cycle. (48 chromosomes)
Second Step: Prophase
Chromatin condenses into chromosomes. (Chromosomes double to 92)
Third Step: Metaphase
Chromosomes align at the middle of the cell.
Fourth Step: Anaphase
Separated chromosomes pull apart.
Fifth Step: Telophase
Cell is cleaved into two new daughter cells.
Why Mitosis is Important?
It is important because It helps with growth and development. It also helps reproduction of a species (asexually) and repair/replacement of damaged parts.
