We are learning so much about life long ago with our study of Thanksgiving. We did a shared research project on the Mayflower and used non-fiction text to create a tree map! It's amazing what we're learning! We also started practicing for our Thanksgiving program. We can't wait to perform for you next Friday.
Thank you Mrs. Gustavson, Mrs. Wright, and Mr. & Mrs. Wickerham for helping us with our Indian costumes...they look awesome!!

We are working on:
- Recognizing upper and lowercase letters, learning letter sounds, and recognizing color words
- Working on recognizing rhyming words
- Counting, blending, and segmenting syllables
- Features of Non-fiction text
- Creating a shared research project on the Mayflower
- Writing a "small moments" story and creating our own books
- Working in guided reading groups- please have your child read the book to you and return it the next day
- Working independently in Daily Five centers to become better readers, writers, and spellers
We are working on:
- Counting by fives, tens and ones to 100
- Counting forward beginning from a given number in sequence
- Writing numbers and counting sets to 10
- 1-1 correspondence
- Measuring and comparing with different manipulatives
- Comparing sets- more, less, same
- Exploring our new Math tool- the rekenrek
- Using graphs to compare data
- Using "number talks" to explain our math thinking
We are working on:
- Investigating pumpkins- decomposition experiment- record observations
- Learning about the importance of Veteran's Day- we wrote letters to James' sister, Mercedes, who is in the Air Force
- Learning about life long ago/ The First Thanksgiving
REMINDERS
- The Original Works Art fund-raiser orders has been extended to Monday, November 18th.
- Our Thanksgiving skit and feast is Friday, November 22nd. Thank you in advance for your food donations.
- Send in a LONG-SLEEVED WHITE T-SHIRT OR SWEATSHIRT to use for our reindeer shirts.

Way to go Mrs. Lamparter's Kindergartners for reading the MOST minutes the 1st Nine Weeks in kindergarten!!! Make sure you record what you read each night and then turn in your minutes at the end of the 2nd Nine Weeks.
