Build a House ... Build a Dream

"The 18th annual Build a House…Build a Dream contest for 5th graders in the Delaware Valley was a huge success this year with over 100 dream homes submitted for this virtual event!

In this competition, students from over 200 area schools were invited to work individually or in pairs to build their own three-dimensional, model dream home. Contestants then submitted photos or videos of their projects along with a description explaining their inspiration behind their design and aesthetic choices. An in-house judging process selected the top 16 dream home architects to be virtually interviewed by a panel of judges. Each student had 10 minutes to share more detail, which is typically the amount of time judges would have with participants in person. All of the participant’s submissions are displayed in an online presentation available on YouTube".

KDM is proud to announce that Faridah Ismaila earned third place for her beautifully designed home. For a full tour of this masterpiece, click on the link below.

A new resource is coming soon to support our 3rd and 4th grade Great Valley students. Please take a look at the attached PDF about Naviance, an online tool that will support PDE’s College and Career Readiness Standards found in our elementary curriculum. These early conversations at the elementary level ask students to examine their own interests and habits to support their goals. Students are able to see how their interests evolve over time and what possible opportunities might exist for them in future courses and even careers in the future.

Please look for more information about Naviance later this spring!

Screenings for Virtual Students

Dear Parents/Guardians of Virtual Students,

If you have been unable to hand in a physical for screening purposes, you should have received a communication on Thursday, (via school messenger) to sign up for screening appointments. The process is similar to signing up for parent conferences only screenings will take place in school on asynchronous Mondays, April 12, 19 and 26. Appointment slots will be available from 10-12 and 1-3 each of these days. You also have the option to send me a current physical dated after 7/1/20. This may be copied and saved from any patient portal system and sent to Enjoy the Spring break and the return of warmer weather!
