Bronco Bulletin Parent Newsletter
July 27-31, 2020
It's almost time!
Can you believe that it's almost time for school to begin? With all of the things out there that are so uncertain, we are certain about 2 things. We are doing our best to be prepared and we are ready to welcome our Broncos back to school. Teachers and paras have trained all summer learning new technology and tools to use for lessons. We will be using REMIND for all teachers, bus drivers, and will have a school REMIND account also. This is the quickest way to send out info to large groups efficiently. We have done the school supply shopping for you and have the student materials ready for their first day. We know that you are nervous and that's ok. I want to assure you that we are taking every precaution that we can to make things safe for all of our Broncos. As we move through this year, we anticipate changes and we will tackle those together. Please check our FB page and website often. Remember that we will get information out to you as soon as we get it. Please get your information directly from LPPS or South Fork Elementary to make sure that it's accurate.
This week, on Monday and Tuesday, our 3rd to 5th grade teachers will be calling parents to inform you of which schedule your child has been assigned. If you received the residency letter, your child will not be placed in a class until you come in and handle your residency issues. That means you must handle these issues asap so they can begin school on time. On Wednesday and Thursday, our K to 2nd grade teachers will be calling to inform you which class your child is in for this year. Again, if you have residency issues, you will not get a call as your child is not placed in a class yet. Teachers are so excited to call families this week.
For parents who are interested in the full virtual option for K to 5th grade, please email me @ misti.thomason@lpsb.org so I can add you to my list of parents to call. We will begin making calls tomorrow to speak with those who are interested and explain the requirements of the program. While it can be a great alternative to being at school, we want to be sure that parents are fully aware of the commitment and requirements before making any decisions. We will continue contacting parents who have inquired about the virtual program throughout this week so bear with us as we are calling as soon as possible.
Our office is open Monday to Friday from 8 to 3 this week. Please call when you arrive at the front doors. The number is posted. You must wear a mask when coming to the office.
While the state mandates do not allow for us to have our normal Open House, do not fear! We will be posting some videos from each grade level for our virtual Open House. You can watch with your child and show them their teacher and let them see some of the things they'll see this year.
PK and K testing days will continue with a few adjustments. Please watch our FB page and website for more info. Same days and times.
Please email me with any questions. With your help, we know that we can make this the best year ever for our Broncos!
See you soon,
Mrs. Thomason
