2019 NATIONAL WESTERN 4-H CATCH-A-CALF
4-H members from Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, and Kansas are eligible to submit applications. However, any 4-H member who has previously caught a calf in the 4-H Catch-A-Calf Contest is not eligible to apply. 4-H members may apply online at: https://nationalwestern.com/catch-a-calf-program/ or check with your Nebraska Extension Office.
To apply, applicants must be between the ages of 12 and 18 as of December 31, 2018 and must be enrolled in 4-H at the time of application. Applicants must have parental as well as Extension Educator consent in order to submit an application. Selected 4-H member applicants will be sent details regarding participation before January 2018.
Applications and forms are due no later than December 1, 2018.
4-H Shooting Sports Leader Certification
Volunteers have the opportunity to become certified as an adult (21 years and older) or apprentice (14-20 years old) leader. Five project areas will be offered at the Lincoln Workshop - rifle, pistol, muzzleloading, coordinator, and archery. The Coordinator certification being offered in Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports is for individuals who work with certified shooting sports leaders, 4-H club leaders for shooting sports projects, 4-H volunteers managing shooting sports events/competitions.
The registration fee is $110.00 per person for initial certification and those individuals adding an additional discipline except for Coordinator. The registration fee for Coordinator is $80 for this workshop. This fee includes meals, supplies and program materials. The registration fee after January 2nd is $160. Participants must make their own lodging arrangements. Registration on Saturday runs from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

State-Level Awards & Scholarships
The Nebraska 4-H Foundation utilizes the Annual Achievement Application for awarding scholarships. Youth interested in applying for these scholarships must complete the Nebraska 4-H Foundation Scholarships page of the application form and follow the state-level completion and submission procedures below. For more information, please see the Nebraska 4-H Foundation Recognition page.
National 4-H Conference & National 4-H Congress
Nebraska 4-H utilizes the Annual Achievement Application to select delegates for National 4-H Congress and National 4-H Conference. To apply as a delegate to either national experience, youth must make that designation on their Annual Achievement Application, complete the Representing Nebraska 4-H (National Application) page, and follow the state-level completion instructions and submission procedures.
Generally, delegate applicants should:
- Not have been a delegate to the program in which they are applying
- Be able to miss one full week of school and/or work to attend the program
- Be a Nebraska 4-H participant in any delivery mode, including clubs, camps, school enrichment, or afterschool programs.
- Be dependable and punctual
In the selection process, significant accomplishments in the applicants 4-H experience, leadership, community involvement, and career spark are given more consideration than the number of 4-H projects completed.

The application form is due January 15 for consideration on all state level awards and scholarships.
You do not need to have applied at the County Level in order to submit a state application.

Martha and Don Romeo Scholarship
Nebraska Association of Fair Managers
The Nebraska Association of Fair Managers will award a $500 scholarship to one qualifying 4-H male and a $500 scholarship to one qualifying 4-H female who are graduating seniors in the State of Nebraska and who plan to continue with post high school education. The scholarship will be awarded at the annual NAFM convention in January. Applications are Due December 1.
