Guest Speaker Jeff Yalden Set to Visit Flores, MJH & UHS!
Jeff Yalden, Motivational Speaker on Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness, will visit Flores, MJH and UHS on Tuesday, August 28th. Jeff Yalden is a passionate advocate for mental health in youth and adults, and a leading authority on teen motivation, teen mental health, and teen suicide prevention, crisis intervention and an mental health school community advocate. Jeff speaks from experience and delivers from the heart - with a no-nonsense approach that leads his audiences to their “AH-HA!” defining moments. He plants seeds that resonate long after he speaks.
Parent and Community Program:
Please invite our parents and community to the Parents and Community Program “Raising Healthy Teens” on Tuesday, August 28th at 6pm in the John H. Harrell Auditorium. The program will cover topics such as; Teen Mental Health, Drugs & Alcohol, Social Media, Smart Phones, Life, Self Esteem, Adulting, Suicide Prevention and so much more. The Parents and Community Program is open to all Uvalde County.

Newspapers In Education (NIE) at The Uvalde Leader News is committed to building newspaper readership in an effort to create lifelong learners, informed consumers and involved citizens. NIE promotes literacy and support educational excellence by providing academically sound classroom materials, useful in-service events for teachers and quality services to educators throughout the state. The goal of the Newspapers in Education program is to help local newspapers foster community involvement, critical thinking, and decision-making skills in school-aged children.
To sign-up all you need to do is find a buddy teacher to split the subscription. A subscription includes a Thursday and Sunday, delivered on Monday, edition of The Uvalde Leader News delivered to your campus. To fully utilize a subscription teachers are asked to split the bi-weekly publication of The Uvalde Leader News. If you and a buddy teacher are interested in having the bi-weekly publication of The Uvalde Leader News delivered to your campus please fill out the entry form:

UCISD Volunteer Trainings Offered This Week
Volunteer Trainings
As the 2018-2019 School Year kicks-off, so does the need for volunteers. Volunteers are a valued asset to our district. Individuals wishing to volunteer on campuses and with student organizations must attend a Volunteer Training and complete a background check. Four Volunteer Trainings have been scheduled for:
Monday, August 27th
Wednesday, August 29th
Tuesday, September 4th
Wednesday, September 5th

Athletic Gold Card
Athletic Gold Card Available for Pickup
UCISD invites all senior citizens to come by Central Office for a GOLD CARD and be our guest at all UCISD athletic events. To qualify for the GOLD CARD, residents must be 65 or older.
The purpose of The GOLD CARD is to honor senior citizens for being dedicated supporters in our community. The GOLD CARD will provide FREE admission to all UCISD athletic events at district facilities.
Coyote Football Season Tickets on Sale
Season Tickets are now available to purchase for past season ticket holders. Tickets will be available to the general public beginning Monday, August 13th.
There will be five (5) home varsity games, the price for reserved tickets $8.00 per game, for a total cost of $40.00 per season ticket price.
All reserved tickets will be sold at the Athletic Dept. Please note, first varsity home game is Friday, August 31st at 7:30pm against Eagle Pass.
