Principal's Message
Greetings Mountain View Community,
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our survey on what makes a great learner. We will be using your input, students’ responses, and teacher feedback to compose a Learner Profile that will help drive our work with students.
We are looking for volunteers to come in and speak to our Advisory classes about careers, or to host students in your work place. If you are interested in this opportunity, please email me.
This week we complete first semester, and final grades will be out next week. Remember, the district is no longer sending out paper report cards; you must log into ParentVue to see your student’s final grades. If you need help, or have questions, please call or email Carrie Sutton, our registrar.
Honored to Serve This Community,
Wendy Rider

Community Conversation on Race
Register to attend the Community-Wide Conversation Around Race In our ongoing efforts to ensure equitable access, inclusion, and opportunity for our students, families, and staff, the Beaverton School District is engaging in the first of, hopefully, many community conversations around race. As a valued member of our community we would like to cordially invite you to attend and participate! On Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 3:15 to 6:00 p.m., we will be welcoming students, families, staff, and community members from throughout Beaverton and the surrounding region to join us at Southridge High School. The afternoon will include the elevation of student and adult voices from our schools and community partners in two breakout sessions focused on specific topics within the conversation around race. In between those two sessions, we will be listening to students engaging in conversation about the importance of developing and empowering our racial literacy. Please consider joining us for the event, and please share the opportunity with others! You can learn more about the schedule, the various breakout sessions being offered, and register to attend the event by going to our website. Southridge High School is located at: 9625 SW 125th Avenue Beaverton, OR 97008 For questions or assistance please call Susan Ouellette at 503-356-4431.
Strengthening Families Sessions
We are very proud to be able to offer family fun and learning sessions again this year. Everyone is welcome and it is free for all of our community members.
Strengthening Families is a program designed for parents and youth (ages 10-14 years). It is designed to support parenting efforts and fortify the relationship between family members. The course will lay the foundation for successful teen years by improving communication between children and parents and helping students to avoid some of the pitfalls of adolescence (including substance abuse and difficult behaviors).
During this seven-week course, we will begin each session with a family meal. During the two and a half hours we are together, participants will attend sessions both separately. Childcare will be provided for siblings that are ten years or younger. Sessions will be offered in both English and Spanish.
Funding for this course is provided by a grant through Washington County Health and Human Services and is Coordinated by Lifeworks Northwest.
