Mrs. Ryberg's Week at a Peek
March 21 - 23
Happy Spring!
I am putting a nice, flowery background on this newsletter in hopes that Mother Nature will catch up with the season. :)
Celebration...Exercise Style!
Students earned their last compliment last week - as a reward, they chose to go and spend some time Monday morning in the gymnasium. They could choose to play with Roller Racer scooters, large exercise balls, jump ropes, basketballs, or hula hoops. They had a ball!!
BUDDIES
This quarter we will be partnering with a 4th grade classroom to be "buddies" with. This is an opportunity to make friends with older students and collaborate for learning. The older students shared a writing project with our class this week and we did some short, get-to-know-you activities. The students were so excited!!
Brothers and Buddies!
Listening to facts about Hermit Crabs.
Getting to know our 4th grade friends.
PARTY FOR PAGES!
Since we finished our Party for Pages from Price Chopper, Wednesday was our day to celebrate with a read-in. While we were doing that, we were able to enjoy the treats, courtesy of Price Chopper, for reaching our goal! WAY TO GO!
Genius Hour Begins
This week we looked at the finer points of starting a Genius Hour. The students viewed at this short video, discussed what their passions are, and what a Genius Hour will look like. We even had a guest speaker from the 5th grade come in and explain what Genius Hour UPSTAIRS is like. While we will only reserve time for this one day a week or when students are done with other projects throughout the week, we spent three days discussing, brainstorming and exploring to get our first projects off the ground. Ask your student about his or her passion and current question/project.
