SPCS Connector 2022
Note from the Administrator
We are starting to see signs of Spring...birds singing, green grass and flowers! I hope that all of you had a great Spring Break and were able to relax a little and enjoy the sunshine.
We will celebrate Easter on April 17th. The New Testament states that the resurrection of Jesus, which Easter celebrates, is a foundation of the Christian Faith. The Resurrection established Jesus as the powerful Son of God, the one to repair our broken relationship with God. Because of his sacrifice and his victory over death, we are forgiven! What a reason to celebrate!
All of our students are growing and learning by leaps and bounds this year. They have done a great job learning school routines and academics. Our preschoolers are learning letters, numbers, and colors all in a family atmosphere of exploration and love. Our elementary students are thriving as well. They've enjoyed more success with Accelerated Reader and have reached their 7,000 books read mark. They participated in a March Madness Book bracket activity and St. Patrick's Day activities. Easter celebrations and Kindergarten and Preschool Easter egg hunts will take place the week of April 11-14. Our 3rd through fifth graders will be taking ILEARN in April and May.
As the year winds down, we are looking forward to our Spring Music programs, Fifth Grade trip to Happy Hollow, Field Day and other fun activities.
We are already making plans for next school year and want you to be a part of SPCS. We continue to register for the 2022-2023 school year. More information about registration is below.
2022-2023 REGISTRATION and PAYMENT REMINDERS
A reminder that 2022-2023 registration is ongoing for Preschool, Preschool Plus, and Elementary. If you have not yet registered, you may obtain forms from Miss Thompson at the Welcome Desk.
All families who are returning for the 2022-2023 school year will be required to enroll in the new FACTS Family Online Account. This enables our school to utilize all the benefits that the system provides in the areas of data, tuition, and academics.
There are many benefits to our school through using the FACTS management system.
- Payment Dates: Payments are going to continue to be due on the 1st of each month. However, there will now be an automatic payment which will take away the need to remember to make these payments each month. Automatic payments can be made from a checking or savings account or from a variety of credit cards, if applicable, and are processed securely through a bank to bank transaction.
- Enrolling in FACTS: You will need to enroll in a FACTS payment plan by going online to your FACTS Family Online Account. All families must enroll! There will be a $50 fee the first time you sign in to the account. Specific information on opening your account will be sent out the second week of April.
- FACTS Management system is used by the school for attendance, lunch charges, field trips, hosting the school website, state reporting, and reporting grades for each student.
For those families who have already registered for Kindergarten through Fifth Grade classes, the following fees will be due on May 1st :
Elementary Combined Fee, $350
Full Day Kindergarten Combined fee, $250
Half Day Kindergarten combined fee, $225
The combined fee includes $100 for the 2nd Registration Installment and the material and book fee.
SPCS accepts Choice Scholarships (School Vouchers). This scholarship program is available for students in K - 5. If you have questions about the voucher program you may contact the school office @ 317-534-2929 or visit the Department of Education website for information at www.doe.in.gov/choice.
March has flown by here in the Pre School Plus classroom! We are loving the warmer temperatures and the chance to get outside and play as much as possible. We celebrated Dr. Seuss week and St Patrick's day this month also.
March is a shorter month due to spring break but the kids have learned our bible verse in spite of that. "But if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from everything we've done wrong." I John 1:9 We have talked a lot about God loving us even when we sin and that everybody sins (even grown ups and teachers) except for Jesus and God.
Mrs. C and I have really seen the kids growing in many areas as the year has gone on. Everyone can write their first name without much help and several can also write their last names. We've also been working on learning about the weather and seasons (which is definitely confusing in Indiana). The kids have all picked up on the concept of half/whole pretty quickly. We work on rhyming and counting along with our Zoo phonic friends everyday during circle time. Our friends for this month were Vincent Vampirebat, Willy Weasel and Xavier Fox. Some of the things we did for v, w and x include: building houses for the bears with Velcro, making a veggie man, making a wheel with marshmallows and toothpicks, playing with REAL worms and making an x ray craft. The Friday before Spring break we had a game day.
Mrs. C and I enjoy watching the kids grow and learn to do new things each and every afternoon in Pre School plus. Here are some pictures of one of their favorite times of our day - recess in the gym.
Hello SPCS Family and Friends!
Ms. Drury here, reporting on the Kindergarten through fifth grade Physical Education classes. This year has been full of so much fun and excitement. All the students are growing in all aspects, health and physical wellness. Older grades, fourth and fifth, have been in the whiffle ball unit for the past few weeks. Competing is exciting, but we really focus on skills and having fun more than anything. The younger grades, Kindergarten through third, have been growing skills around whiffle ball. Throwing, catching, and hitting are skills that all grades have been perfecting over the course of this unit.
With Spring Break approaching, I talked with the students about staying active while on break. There are many things that can count as activity. Stretching, walking the dog, playing tag with siblings, and even playing on a virtual reality set can all count as physical activity.
As always, stay hydrated and healthy. Have a wonderful and safe break!
