The BBC Experience

Fall 2014

August

Hard to believe it is August. We are a mere three (3!) weeks away from Welcome Weekend!

We're wrapping up the second week of Teen Leadership Conference on campus - and what a week!! God continues to work in and through His people and this week at least 5 students have come into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and many others have been stretched in their walk and faith.

We're looking forward to continuing this pattern of learning and growing as we embrace the start of a new academic year - and since that time is soon, here are a few more pieces of information to add to your "things to know and do" list...

Welcome Weekend

Weekend activities are focused on helping you make a smooth transition to Baptist Bible College. The events are designed to help you develop relationships and understand the unique culture that you will experience at BBC.

A Welcome Weekend schedule of events will be available soon.

Convocation Chapel

Monday, August 25th, will be the opening of a new academic year at BBC&S. We are praising the Lord for year #84! Our formal program, Convocation Chapel, serves as an official beginning of the year for students, faculty, and staff. Due to the special nature of this chapel, we do ask that you "dress up" for that day - guys – dress shirts with ties, ladies - modest dresses, skirt or dress pants & blouse combo.

There is no additional cost for this and all new students are expected to attend. Our Student Leadership Council takes an active role in making this a fun, interactive, and informative time.

Go Underground!

The Underground Café, a trendy coffee shop and favorite hang-out place for both students and faculty. Once a dilapidated storage shed, the Underground owes its radical transformation to the vision and hard work of the Class of 2000. Students gather in the Underground to play games, work on group projects, do homework, or just relax and enjoy conversation.

Commons Guest Housing

BBC is pleased to offer guest housing at an affordable rate during Welcome Weekend and throughout the school year. We can offer your parents and other family members low-cost overnight stays in Commons Hall, right here on campus. Obviously, availability will be limited, so we will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. It is important to know that this facility is a college residence hall that has two floors dedicated to housing for parents of current students and prospective students, as well as other college guests. Rooms include two twin beds. Guests must provide their own towels, linens, and pillows. Also note: Every three rooms form a suite that shares a common restroom/shower facility. No meals or meal prep will be available in this building. The college cafeteria operated by Pioneer Food Services does offer meals at reasonable rates.

Room Rates are as follows:

Single (one room) - $20/night
Family (one suite with 3 rooms) - $50/night
**Two person maximum occupancy per room

If your parents are interested, you will need to use this link to send your request for availability. We will communicate with you upon receiving your request. If you have any questions, feel free to email Kati Raven
