Valentine's Day!
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and we are all excited to show our Trexler family love and support. Here are a few friendly reminders to help guide you through this special occasion.
~Glass objects and balloons are not permitted on Onslow County buses; if you plan to bring/deliver these items to the school, you will need to make other transportation arrangements for your student.
~Students will not be able to take gifts to their classroom. Any gifts brought to the school will be kept in the office and given to the student at the end of the school day to prevent distractions during instructional time.
~Any and all gifts received at the school will need to be picked up by 3:30. Trexler will not be responsible for any items left overnight.
Spelling Bee
Congratulations to 6th graders Chris Swinson, Taylor Jarman, and Katelynn Morrison, 7th graders Jessica Housel and Jacob Rhoades and 8th graders Noah Pjanic, Lorelei Roberts, and Makenna Padgett for qualifying for the school wide spelling bee. These students will compete on Wednesday, February 15 at 1:00 pm in the Media Center. The winner of this bee will participate in the Onslow County spelling bee later this year. Good luck to everyone.
Athletics
Parents and students interested in playing sports for Trexler must attend a concussion/MRSA training at least once this school year. If you have not yet attended a meeting and you are planning on trying out for boys soccer, volleyball, track and field, or baseball you must plan on attending.
Volleyball Tryouts will be held in the gym on Monday February 13th, Tuesday February 14th and Wednesday February 15th from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm. Rides need to be here promptly at 4:30 pm. Athletes need to bring water and athletic sneakers. No other equipment is necessary at this time.
Soccer Tryouts will be held Monday through Wednesday next week from 2:30-4:30. Students must meet in the gym lobby after school. Athletes must bring water, cleats and shin guards. Parents should pick up their child in the gym promptly at 4:30.
Baseball Tryouts begin March 22. If you are interested in trying out for baseball you must sign up in the front office and make sure that you have a current physical on file.
Early Release Day and Teacher Work Day
Thursday is our next Early Release Professional Development Day. Trexler will dismiss at 11:15 am. Buses will run immediately following dismissal at 11:15 am and car riders will need to have their rides here for pick up at 11:15 am. As always, there are no after school events on Early Release days. Since all staff will be involved in professional development until well into the afternoon, they will not be available for conferences or meetings. Additionally, February 17th is a teacher work day so there is no school for students that day.
