See you on Monday!
Note of Thanks...
Must Know Items For the week
Safety
Please make sure that you have a class list handy on your device, on the inside beside your classroom door, in your Crisis Manual. This is somewhere that a sub or another teacher would be able to locate and move on quickly in the case of an emergency.
- I have placed an UNOFFICIAL LIST in your box to insert into your front pocket of the crisis manual behind the red cards
- RED CARD INFO: I learned that you do indeed need a second card for your exterior window. That will be coming later this week.
- The list for your wall will be provided this week also. Just know where each item goes and put them in place as soon as you get them as I will do an audit before the end of May.
Lawn Care Super Hero
We are so fortunate to have had a Super Hero Mowing Team!
For the past two mowings, we have not had a working mower. It is difficult to provide the proper care without the equipment needed to adequately do the job. Mr. Poole attempted several times with no luck.
If anyone knows of someone that will volunteer to look at our mower to see what it needs and maybe do the labor or suggest the best way to have it done on a shoestring budget, please let me know. Parts are the least expensive portion of the cost when it comes to repairing. Labor really makes this task very difficult for us to pay a repair shop on our school's budget. I am going to look at some other options to get us through the summer. However, putting our heads together may make this task easier, would be very helpful and much appreciated.
Finally, I would like to say thanks to the kind McAdenville residents that have taken the time to provide the service to our school recently. If anyone knows who cut it last..it would be my pleasure to thank them personally. I've located some footage that I am posting to FB to say thanks, but if you know please email me.
Custodial Care
Please keep Mr. Poole in your prayers as he will be going into the hospital for a procedure on May 3rd. He is so humble and kind to us all that you may not know when he is well and when he isn't. He'd like to keep it that way, but I have a "Big" mouth...you already know that, so I'm informing you all. We are so lucky to have him and we are going to need to continue taking good care of this young fella!
I've had to make an executive decision to let you in on it before his last day for a while. Mr. Poole will work through Tuesday, take a few days to prep, have his procedure and then be back shortly after his recovery. Please don't ask of the return date, as he doesn't know how long for sure. We are just praying for the best and shortest time that he may need...But truth be told we are going to just have to wait and see when he "really" feels like returning.
For now, let's expect to have a few weeks without a daytime custodian. This will means that Mr. Borders will have a different evening schedule. Keep in mind that Mr. Borders works a full-time day job before coming to us in the PM. Be prepared to help where needed.
I will provide you with changes by Wednesday. Which will be our first day without Mr. Poole.
Best of everything to you Mr. Poole.
We Love You!!!
Building Updates!
I happened to be here Monday afternoon when Mr. Dangler came to do our energy inspection. He said that we 100% in compliance with holiday shutdown expectations for GCS!
I am randomly putting a Lotto Card in everyone's box. Good Luck!
Most of all...
THANK YOU!
I certainly could not do it without YOU!

EOG Review Questions
Math
Students will be given 1-5 questions 2-3 times weekly through a google form. These are Released EOG questions that have been formatted so that students can quickly read and answer just like taking our EOG. Please provide scratch paper and 2-3 minutes per problem. The Google forms are NC standards aligned so that you will quickly see if your students have an understanding of the standard as prescribed by the EOG.
Reading
NC suggested QUESTION STEMS for NC standards. Please Notice that on April 1 you will begin your district review packet. The document shared by Mrs. Griffith will be aligned with the standards covered in the packet.
I ask that you place the question stems in at least one of three places.
- Read Aloud
- Shared Reading
- Independent Reading (with accountability)
Please place the questions that you choose to use in your weekly lesson plans. This way we have full access to your teaching and expected student learning. I look forward to reviewing this in your rooms and in your plans next week.

Engagement and Worksheets
How often are you using worksheets for instruction and homework each day? How can we reduce the number of worksheets used during the school day?
Teacher - Student relationships
How can we change the tone of how we address students? It’s not what you say sometimes it’s how you say it. Model what they expect. The modeling sessions may have to be repeated a number of times, but model the expectations (Behavior and Instruction) with grace and respect for the student.
