Spring Shadows Elementary
Parent & Student Newsletter
February 2018
February Greetings!
Our weather is starting to warm up again and are children are learning in full gear! We have a big month ahead of us. We just finished mid year testing and you should be have already met with your teacher on your child's progress. If you have not done so, please schedule a meeting with your teacher during their conference period. Also remember, that your child can log on to the following websites- www.istation.com and www.razkids.com. Both of these websites are invaluable in helping your child become a better reader.
Make sure to mark to mark your calendars! We have had some fun events this month such as the father daughter dance, Go Texan Day, and we end the month by celebrating reading! Please join us for these fun events!
Finally, please be reminded that the front office opens at 6:50 a.m., the gates open at 7:00 a.m., and your child should be in class at 7:20 a.m. sharp. If your child needs to eat breakfast at school, please have them in school at 7:00 a.m. so they have plenty of time to eat and make it to class in time. Every instructional minute counts. Your child is tardy at 7:30 and you will have to sign them in the office.
As for our freeze make-up days- Spring Shadows Elementary students will make up their day on April 20th. Make sure to send your child to school on this day.
Together we can help your child achieve their dreams for their future!
With much wildcat love,
Rachel Martinez

Please see this website for valuable information including school availability.
Transfer Requirements
According to SBISD Board Policy FDA (Regulation), a principal may non-renew a transfer at the end of the year for any of the following criteria:
1. Misrepresentation of residence on enrollment documents.
2. Taking into consideration possible space and enrollment for the coming school year.
3. Attendance must be satisfactory. Unexcused absences as well as excessive absences are considered.
4. Conduct/behavior must be satisfactory.

Please communicate directly to your campus Principal about this information.
Out-of-District Application Fee
Out-of-district families are required to pay an application processing fee of $50.00 (cash or money order) for each application. There is no family discount for multiple children applying as an out-of-district transfer. Every application must have the fee paid within the application window. You may or may not have paid this fee in the past; we are collecting fees for this year and going forward.
If you have not paid your fee, your application will be cancelled after the window closes.
How to Pay
If you are renewing your Transfer application, you pay your fee at your home campus.
New transfers either mail or deliver the $50.00 fee to the School Performance and Support Department, 955 Campbell Road, Houston, Texas, 77024 (attn. A. Galvan). If you have any questions, please call Mrs. Galvan at 713.251.2467 for more information.
