Lincoln Elementary Weekly Update

September 11th, 2020

Message From Mrs. K

Lincoln families,

This rain has made it a long 4-day week and we have definitely been missing our time outside. Fresh air and exercise do wonders for our learning brains! Please plan for outdoor recess, no matter the weather in the morning. We make the decision to hold recess inside at the very last minute, and always do our best to get students outside if at all possible. Rain boots, jackets, and even light gloves are helpful this time of year. Make sure each item is clearly labeled with your child’s last name!

As we get a few weeks into school we are finding that more and more students are forgetting their mask. We have some single use masks to hand out, but cloth ones seem to be much more comfortable for our students. Here are some ideas for getting back on track with masks:

  • Label a baggie with each day of the week and keep them in your child’s backpack (possibly in a smaller zipped pocket) so that you don’t have to remember to grab one each morning.

  • Have one extra mask in a baggie in your child’s backpack all the time, as back-up.

  • Put a basket of clean masks by the door you exit from so that your child can grab one when heading out to school.

  • Get in the habit of a mask check when you check seat belts before leaving (or before leaving for the bus).

  • Set an alarm on your smartphone to remind you 😊

Someone generously donated a bag of cloth masks to us, but we also go through those pretty quickly. If your student has borrowed one of these masks, please return it in a small bag and we will wash it for another student to use.

Have a restful weekend, and we will see you (and hopefully the sun) next week!

In partnership,

-Mrs. Kirkwold
