Principal’s Message
Happy February! As I said in the January newsletter, we’re on the doorstep of a very
busy time of year we refer to as “testing season”. 3 rd graders have been diligently preparing for
iRead-3, which will take place March 7-10 here at HES, while teachers and staff are also honing
student skills in preparation for the iLearn window, which opens April 17 th . I’m thoroughly
impressed by the level of expertise we have at HES and the way staff love and nurture every
student. Our kids are growing up in a world that is much different than any of us experienced
as children and it seems there is a lot more to learn at a much younger stage of life. Thankfully,
Henryville Elementary has teachers and support staff who accept that challenge and do their
very best to meet our kids where they are. Even better is that we have students who have a
genuine love for learning and discovery. The third point of that trifecta is the palpable support
of parents and guardians who want nothing but the best for their children. When those three
strong attributes come together, we have the opportunity for a school community that not only
thrives, but sets a great benchmark for others to follow. My door is open and I am committed
to productive communication, so please reach out anytime. Enjoy the newsletter!

Kids Heart Challenge
Our school had so much fun kicking off this year’s Kids Heart Challenge last week! We traveled the globe with this year’s heart heroes, who emphasized the importance of things like helping others, drinking water, getting enough sleep and saying NO to tobacco and vaping. When they join, they can also choose a daily challenge to BE KIND or MOVE MORE. Visit our school page or download the KHC app to join today!
