September/October Newsletter
Amy Belle Elementary
Principal's Corner
Hello Amy Belle Families,
It has been a great start to the school year! There is a great energy at the beginning of the year as students get to know their new teacher and classmates! We had the opportunity to get together as a school community yesterday for Belle Fest to talk about our trait of the month, respect. We define respect as seeing the good in people and things and treating them with care. Students saw examples of why respect is important and ways that they can show respect to people and things. Students heard a read aloud that showed what could happen if people are not respectful, Ask your child about our Belle Fest and ways they can show respect!
We have some exciting events coming up this month to kick off the year! Our PTA is a great support to our school and helps provide opportunities for students. We will once again have a Fun Run on September 28th! This is always a great event and the money raised will help fund projects for the school.
Thank you for all of your support as we start another great school year! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Katie Kohel
Counselor's Corner
Our Amy Belle staff has put great effort into getting to know our students and creating positive classroom communities. We have spent much of the start of the year getting to know each teacher's routines and the rules of the school in order to create a safe and caring environment for learning. If you have questions or concerns about any obstacles that are getting in the way of your child's success at school, please feel free to contact me, Mrs.Runde, Amy Belle’s School Counselor at jrunde@gsdwi.org or call (262) 628-7825 ext 1140.
This month during our bi-weekly classroom Guidance lessons we are learning about the role of the School Counselor and the Skills for Learning. The Skills for Learning Unit includes: having a positive attitude, persevering, focusing attention, and avoiding distractions. I’m looking forward to another great year of fun, growth, and learning together!
Student Absences
State law also allows a student up to 10 absent days, half or full, due to reasons of illness, vacation, appointments, etc. After 10 days your child is considered truant.
- If your child must leave school for any purpose, please send a note indicating the time they are to be excused and the reason for the excuse. If your student will be missing school, please contact the office at (262) 628-7825. Notepads went home with NEW FAMILIES only this year. Please let the office know if you are in need of more and one will be sent home with your student.
- We encourage you to schedule appointments outside of school as much as possible. If an appointment is made during school hours, please bring a doctor/dentist excuse to the office. The principal is required to send a formal, written notice upon 10 days of accumulated absences.
- COVID-19 will be handled like any other communicable disease for all students. Ill and symptomatic individuals may return to school once they are fever/vomiting/diarrhea free for 24 hours without medication and with an improvement of symptoms.

PTA Membership
It's never too late to join PTA!
By filling out the membership form, you help the PTA get a jump start on funds for the year. Your membership allows you to vote if you were to come to a meeting. Voting decisions include how to spend all the money we fundraise. We are also in an election year for the PTA President and Treasurer positions. Joining PTA does not commit you to anything. You can chose to come to meetings and events or not. Your membership boosts our support to the school community!
