MUSTANG MINUTE
September
September 20, 2021
Mustangs,
Thank you for all that you as parents, staff, and students do to support our school and community. Chugiak High School continues to amaze me as we all come together to Inspire Students, Excel Academically and Strengthen Community.
Thank you also for your continued effort to end the Tik Tok craze that calls for student theft and vandalism of school property. We will continue to work with APD to hold students accountable for these crimes and appreciate your diligence in speaking to your student to stop this trend.
We look forward to welcoming parents and students to Parent/Teacher conferences in October. For your planning purposes, High School conferences will be held October 20th. The academic week for students will include a half day on October 20th, a full day of school on October 21, and no school for students on October 22. A bell schedule will be forthcoming.
As always, please help us to take care of our school and our community. If you are sick, stay home. We appreciate your help with this and your continued support with appropriate mask wearing as per the ASD policy.
Sincerely,
Megan J. Hatswell
Principal- Chugiak High School

Congratulations to those students that have achieved an Academic Award. We will be recognizing their academic excellence on Monday the 27th at 7:15am in the Steve Primis Auditorium. Invitations have gone out to those students who qualify.
Congratulations to awardees!

Cell Phone Usage at School
In order to meet the needs of our students, staff, and community students are able to use their cell phones during non-instructional time (before/after school, lunch, and passing). Students are also allowed to use cell phones during instructional time for academic purposes only and with prior teacher approval. Phones should be silenced and kept out of sight during instructional time unless otherwise directed by the teacher. For safety reasons, earbuds/headphones will be limited to one ear when used during non-instructional time. Earbuds/headphones may be used in class with prior teacher approval.
Chugiak strives to lead and empower students in our educational practice to incorporate skills students will utilize in their academic, professional, and social lives. Our hope is to impart positive habits, including professional etiquette, self-control, social intelligence and social responsibility regarding media use, as well as digital safety to allow students to develop the necessary life skills for the modern world in which we live. Parents should communicate appointments, pick-ups, and personal notifications through the attendance office, not via cell phone. Please call 907-742-3069 and the information will be promptly delivered.
