Riders are Readers - End of the Year and Summer
Vising Author Jeff Mack
Jeff Mack, visited our school on April 13 and presented to all the grade levels. The students really enjoyed hearing about how he writes and each grade level got to draw one of his characters along with Mr. Mack.
Summer Reading
Don't let your children fall prey to the "summer slide". Studies show that students who don't read over the summer can fall further and further behind in school every year. Check out our summer reading libguide for fun reading activities local businesses offer and information about Woodstone's Summer Olympic Challenge.
Makerspace Update
For the last round of makerspace, Mrs. Romine let the students have free choice. She added a community puzzle, coloring sheets, rubix cubes and spirographs among other things. Click here to access the Makerspace page and then click on the different STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) areas for the resources specific to that topic.
Poetry Month
April is poetry month so Library Lessons then revolved around poetry. Kinder students wrote a rainbow poem and a shape poem about flowers. Mrs. Romine read some Shel Silverstein poems to 1st grade and then they wrote their own "OUCH!" poems. 2nd graders used the ipads and appsmashed two apps together to create shape poems.
