This is your Fall newsletter!

Hello eLearning families! You are now in week 4 of your classes (week 6 if you are on early calendar!). Hopefully you are enjoying your courses and becoming more comfortable with how to be successful as an online learner. Please take a minute to read the important information below. Fall State Testing

All 10th & 11th graders will be taking 2 different state tests this October:
10th graders: PLAN (October 8th) and PSAT (October 15th)
11th graders: Pre-ACT (Ocotber 8th) and PSAT (October 15th)

These state exams are mandatory. Tests will be given at the PLC. You will receive more specific information in a separate email.

FREE On-line Test Prep

All CMS students have access to free online test prep for the PSAT, SAT and ACT. Follow these steps to get started!

• Click on the ACT/SAT Test Prep link on the PLC homepage:

• Choose “Performance Learning Center” from the list

• Log in with your Student ID # (username) and your birthday--YYYYMMDD (password)

Improve Your ACT Score in Only Ten Hours!

1. Understand the ACT (1 hour)

• Work through the “ACT Overview”—Step 1

• Read, “Getting Started,” “Vocab” and “Strategies”

2. Take a practice test (3 hours)

• Click on “Step 3—Score & Analyze”

• Choose Test #6 (green box)

• Choose “Take Test Online”

• Skip the Essay Section and begin in Section 1

• After completing the full test, review your score report at “My Status”

3. Review your weakest skills (4-5 hours)

• Click on “Critical Skills” in “Step 4—Review Your Skills”

• Select the test you took in Step 2

• Follow the links to the lessons and quizzes for your four weakest skills

4. Maximize your score with FinalPrep (1-2 hours)

English IV Graduation Project

If you are taking English IV, you will be completing the presentation portion of the project with us. Presentation dates are December 15th and 16th. Mrs. Hamilton is our graduation project coordinator; however, this is a mostly self-guided project. You can access more info about it using the links below. Additionally, beginning October 2nd, Ms. Hamilton will be meeting with seniors every Thursday during 2 sessions to work on grad projects. Session 1 is from 12:00 to 1:00 and Session 2 is from 1:00 to 2:00.

Attendance at 1 session on October 2nd is mandatory. Please email me and let me know which session you will be attending.

Progress Reports

Progress Reports are received from NCVPS every other Wednesday and will be emailed to parents by the following Friday. Specific questions about grades should be addressed with the NCVPS teacher. If you are having trouble contacting a teacher, please let me know.

Peer Tutoring Center

The Peer Tutoring Center is an excellent resource available to all NCVPS students. It is accessible from any page in your course. Simply click on Peer Tutoring Center at the top of the page and follow the on-screen instructions from there! Check out the videos below for more info!
