Strategies to Engage Learners and Increase Content Retention
Friday, December 11, 2015
Who Should Attend:
- Grade 3-12 teachers
About the Workshop:
The purpose of this workshop is to show participants that summarization techniques are critical to use when working with students of all ages. Attendees will learn by doing and leave with a “toolkit” of differentiated summarization strategies to use in any content area that will help engage students and increase retention.
“Summarization yields some of the greatest leaps in comprehension and long-term retention of information.” ~Rick Wormeli
Educators will be able to describe what summarization is, and:
- how to use it
- why to use it
- when to use it
- where to use it
- how often to use it, and
- how to differentiate summarization for preferred learning styles and multiple intelligences.
