Milnes Memo
March 10, 2023
We will be celebrating reading all month long at Milnes. We had many VIP Readers this week and are looking forward to many more throughout the month. Thank you to Mayor Kurt Peluso, Assistant Superintendent Mrs. DeFranco, and Assemblywoman Swain for coming to Milnes and reading to our students.
Thank you to our amazing PTA for hosting the Scholastic Book Fair this week. The students enjoyed shopping for their own books.
We are really enjoying reading Beverly Cleary's The Mouse and the Motorcycle as a whole school. There is no scheduled reading over the weekend. We will continue to read on Monday. We are looking forward to learning all about Ralph and his adventures.
Our K-2 winner from Chapter 4 is:
1L - Daniel S.

Reporting Student Absences
Kindly enter all absences, late arrivals and early releases as follows:
· Using the Genesis Parent Portal (Attendance Tab): Select date(s), time(s), reason for absence. Using the “Notes” section, please indicate additional pertinent information (i.e. Travel, Dr. Appt., Illness, etc.).
· Call the Attendance line: (201-794-5550, Option #2). Please leave your child’s name, teacher, reason for absence and date(s)/time(s).
Both are available 24/7 and will record your child's absence and report it to your child’s teacher as well. As teachers and staff can be absent and our email servers can be disabled and inaccessible at times, we ask that you refrain from using email to report. Using the above-mentioned sources will ensure that the main office and covering teacher(s) (subs./special area) receive the attendance in a timely manner.
