What to expect at a Great Expectations Institute
Fun, learning, friendship, networking, motivation, and inspiration are all yours for the taking at the Great Expectations® Summer Institute, our core training experience. GE sessions are taught by teachers who successfully implement the GE practices in their own classrooms during the school year. Each class features practical strategies you can take back to your classroom to use next year. Your instructors will model the kinds of learning strategies and community building activities with your class that they teach to their students, so you will experience GE at work. Join us at a GE Institute near you!

What are Texas Educators Saying About Great Expectations?
I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to attend GE this winter. Not only did I leave GE with my pockets full of strategies for every facet of my classroom, but I also walked away with my eyes much more aware of the reason behind all of the things that happen in my classroom, from behavior to academics. This heightened awareness pushed me to think more intentionally about why and how I go about building relationships, setting the culture, assessment, feedback, high-fives, and much more! I'm thrilled to begin implementing GE strategies into my secondary classroom; after only three days, I can already feel a change in the atmosphere of each of my classes, not to mention that of my own attitude and heart towards my learners and learning experiences.
What's the beauty of GE in the secondary classroom? None of these examples require me to add to the curriculum or neglect the state standards. Rather, they challenge me to think more intentionally about the 55 minutes a day I have with each learner and how I might use it more constructively to impact their lives, and in many ways my own, in a meaningful way that stretches beyond the four walls of my classroom and state assessments.
