There was a rise in the number of African American musicians. It was easier for African Americans to publicly perform with the White population.

Street art was being created by African Americans during this time. The Harlem Renaissance helped with the idea of acceptance of African Americans.

Who was langston hughes?
He was one of the many well known African American writers during this time period. His writing along with the writing of many others, greatly impacted the 1920's. It was a time of hope and revolution for the African American community.
Poem Description
This poem represents the African American community. It has many examples of personification and imagery. He says that his soul runs as deep as the rivers, that means that he has a deeper perception of the ideals of the American Dream and life.
