Reminders and Updates
On Tuesday, we experienced a little local history at the Parks-Bentley Place. We learned about what life would have been like during the time period when the Park and Bentley families resided in the house. We toured the one-room schoolhouse, the summer kitchen, the original "cabin", and the tool shed. The highlight of our trip was climbing down into the cellar that historians believed once held escaping slaves on the Underground Railroad.
It is so exciting to experience history first hand and to be so lucky to have these treasures all within driving distance!
The weather is looking good for this week. Please send in a WATER BOTTLE every day with your child.
We'll be finishing our experiment called "Friction, Don't Slow Me Down" early this week and then do one final practice using a balance scale, a ruler and a beaker on Wednesday.
Historical Fiction Book Clubs (Reader's Workshop)
Many groups are moving on to their 3rd book this week! Their discussions are getting better and they are learning how to listen to each other.
You should be seeing their "Book in a Bag" come home EVERY night! In addition, please ask your child if they have Reader's Workshop HW. Many students have been forgetting to complete their homework.
