Bethesda's Second Annual Black History Month Quiz Bowl
was a great success!
Our judges were Ms. Alicia Rojos, chair of our Local School Council, Ms. Ann Malkoc, president of the PTA, and Ms. Johnetta Gillies, a retired teacher from the Lawrenceville community. Seventeen students from 4th and 5th grade classes competed. They did an excellent job in responding to a variety of questions aligned with our AKS in social studies, grades 2 - 5.
The first place winner was Joali Landaverde-Abarca from Ms. Baptiste's class! The second place winner was Lily Nguyen from Ms. Wilkins's class. We very proud of ALL of the participants for their hard work! Thank you, administrators and media specialists, for your support. Thank you, teachers, for encouraging our students to challenge themselves, to believe, and to achieve!
Next week we will be welcoming our parents to Bethesda for parent teacher conferences. No meetings have been scheduled to allow teachers more time to get ready for conferences.
We thank you for all your efforts in getting your parents here for conferences. Increasing parent attendance at conferences is one of our Title I goals, so we hope we will have a great turnout. Many bilingual interpreters will be assisting with conferences. Thank you Laura for arranging the interpreters!
Be sure you have given all of your conference schedules to Ms. Lafferty (Except those teachers trying PTCFast.com- Parent Teacher Conference Scheduler) doing so it can be entered into OneNote (this was due on TUE 2/16/16), this allows the office to have the information they need to help parents. The office receives a lot of parent phone calls asking to verify conference times and occasionally to cancel conferences.
Let’s make our school shine for all our visitors next week! Please be sure the grade level bulletin boards are up-to-date. Also, parents love to see student work displayed outside of classrooms. Writing samples always make for interesting reading as parents wait in the halls!
We would like to make sure that there is some parking available for our parents for our Early Release conferences. If you are going to be here late, please park in the gravel lot by the playground. We will do that same procedure for both Wednesday and Thursday conferences.
Some parents may have scheduled their conferences at 12:30 p.m. assuming that their child will be held and not sent on the bus or up to car riders. Dismissal time on early release days is 12:00 PM. NO students are allowed to stay at school until their parents arrive. Please understand that all children will be going home as usual. Also, please remember that your last conference should be at 6:00 PM, ending at 6:20 PM. Doors will be locked at 6:15 PM. Thank you for all that you do for our students and parents!

Hello Everyone
Please keep this survey going…Dojo again please!. Each one counts in a different way, so please complete it and participate. This survey is a state survey and it counts for CCRPI. As you know, we are trying to get the highest rating. Non-participation or low participation could adversely affect our CCRPI STAR Climate Rating. Last year we were a 5 star rating school. This one we can control!!!
Please Dojo this link out to your parents and let them know this is important for our State school ranking. If you are a Bethesda parent, please complete it asap.
Georgia Parent Survey:http://apps.gadoe.org/schoolclimate/parents.nsf/Survey.xsp
Thanks for your participation right now here is our participation number: Great start!
Remember our Focus
Analyzing the Standards (Stay true to the standard)
Building Capacity (Lifelong Learner)
Conquering the Workshop Model
Stay on Pacing (Super important)
(Master this first and then continue to build capacity to add on.)
We are listening!
Please continue to share your perception of our school. Is it really anonymous? YES IT IS! Since it is anonymous, we really can’t follow up when we don’t know specific situations (who, what, when, where, etc.). If you post something and want results, please be as specific as you can, otherwise the situation will continue. Remember, you can come and talk to any of us in confidence. We are here for you and genuinely want the best work environment.
Just like relationships, positive school climate takes work…hard work…we all want the same thing, so let’s work together to get there. Share your thoughts here Click Here to Open or face to face (always best way to communicate).
