In the Classroom this week
Reading-This week we started reading books to learn about how words and actions to tell us how our character is on the inside. We read some great books, they loved Tacky the Penguin and I loved reading them The Empty Pot. This was a great story to learn about different characters and how they are as a person. If you get a chance ask your child about that story.
Next week we will continue on this lesson learning about what characters say can tell us how they are feeling and how their character is. We will also start our comparing of stories.
Phonics- . We are working hard in our phonics classes. Please remember I may not have your child in my class. Many of them are coming home with spelling words for their spelling tests.
Math- This week we worked on number lines again, and we continued putting 3 digit numbers in order from least to greatest and greatest to least. We continued to work on adding and subtracting 3 digit numbers and word problems. We worked on regrouping our base ten blocks to find our number.
Next week we are going into adding three 2 digit numbers and how to work through it.
Science- We started talking about weather.
Writing- We are continuing our informational writing. We are working on building good papers by using a lot of details and elaborating on our facts. We are also learning about topic sentence and closing sentence. This week we finished up our writing on starfish and started our writing on turtles. We are working on taking our time and taking good notes, and elaborating on their facts.
Character- We voted on our trustworthiness winner. Our assembly is on the 8th!!

News and reminders
What a great first week back from break! Started with out field trip and ended with our Market place.
The kids did such a great job on the market place, their posters were so good and creative. I loved seeing all the hard work put into the products and they did such an amazing job. We had some really great products in our room, I was so proud of them all. They worked hard in the classroom too. Watching them sell not only their products but their partners while they shopped was so great! They were having so much fun but didn't realize what kind of impact they just had on our Ronald McDonald donation! Our 2nd graders raised a total of $5739.25!!!! I hope you all had a chance to see all the pictures on dojo. Thank you for all that you did to help today, and all the shopping you did!
**PLEASE make sure you are paying you dollar on Friday's, if your child comes without a dollar we will have to take them to Red Rocket to change. I will send out an email today to those who are missing payments. Thank you
