Homecoming Week 2019
Theme: Movie Night
While Homecoming got its start on college campuses as a fall celebration of the first football game of the season where alumni would return to their alma maters, it eventually spread to high schools. The traditions of high school Homecomings across the country include a parade with floats, royalty election with the crowning of a king and queen, pep rally, alumni reception, mums and garters, all capped off with a big dance. Homecoming is the main event for students and alumni designed to generate enthusiasm for their school. Homecoming week is a great time to come out and enjoy some exciting high school football, get a sneak peek of the band UIL show, enjoy performances by the Blue Angels and Cheerleaders, and soak up the fun and fellowship of a community united as Lobos. This year’s Homecoming theme is “Movie Night.”
As Lobos we value a foundation of culture that values unity and pride. Rudyard Kipling stated “For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the pack”. Unity is very apparent in LEISD as we all are now identified as Lobos. Homecoming is traditionally an occasion intended to unite alumni and students to create a stronger sense of school pride and is a wonderful opportunity to see our unity and pride on display. Traditions such as the parade, pep rally, football game, and dance give students and alumni the opportunity to reminisce about glory days of old as well as create new memories that together weave the tapestry of our school’s legacy. We would like to encourage all current students, alumni, parents, and community members to participate in this week’s homecoming activities. From the parade on Wednesday, to the pep rally and game on Friday, we encourage you to come decked out in the Navy and Gold and show that Lobo Spirit!

Homecoming Parade Information
The parade will be from 6:00-7:30 on that Wednesday, October 2, Parade entries may begin lining up in the LEHS parking lot at 5:00 pm on October 2 and will begin moving at 6:00 pm. Order of the parade is not determined by entry number. Parade line-up is first come first served. Entry numbers will be used for judging only. We will follow the same route as last year (right on Walker Lane then left on Hart, ending at Lobo Stadium where we will have a short pep rally). We Want to Hear From You!
Each year, we encourage students, parents, and staff members to complete a campus needs assessment. We use the results to design counseling programs, services, and activities that address the identified needs.
Students will receive a link to the survey in their student email accounts and will have the opportunity to complete the survey during social studies classes this week. Students will need to be logged into their LEISD student email to complete the survey. The parent survey was sent to email addresses on file in Focus on Friday and is available at https://tinyurl.com/lehsparents2019
We look forward to working with our students and families throughout the year and appreciate you taking the time to provide this valuable information!

High school students often do not want to participate in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. The Federal Free/Reduced Lunch Program is the standard used by many programs to qualify students for financial assistance. Even if a student never uses their eligibility in the lunchroom, they can benefit greatly in other areas if they qualify for the Lunch Program. Eligibility has to be reestablished each year. You can fill out the application here. We highly suggest that all families fill out an application to see if you qualify.
Congratulations to Kennadi Harris!

Report Harmful, Harassing, and Bullying Behavior
LEISD has an on-line tool called "Anonymous Alerts" that students, parents, and teachers can use to report harmful, harassing, and bullying type behaviors. Anonymous Alerts bullying reporting mobile app helps combat bullying and other negative activity in schools by empowering students to speak up. Social and peer pressures are some of the hardest obstacles for students to overcome. Anonymous Alerts encourages students, parents and staff to quickly, easily, and anonymously report bullying, cyber-bullying, gang-related issues, and other sensitive topics through private messages to school officials by building. All reports remain completely anonymous even during a two-way email conversation, although submitters have the option to reveal their identity if they prefer to have a person-to-person discussion.
To send a report from the Web/Internet go to: www.anonymousalerts.com/littleelmisd/
