Southside News

From the Principal....

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Winter Break! We are back for the second semester and have many events planned for the up-coming months. Be sure to check them all out!

Educationally Yours,

Casey Hanna

Mr. Popper's Penguins

Beginning January 10th, Southside will be participating in the One School, One Book program. This is designed to create a shared reading experience at Southside. The chapter book, Mr. Popper's Penguins, will be given to each family that accepts the challenge.

Are you ready to make a commitment?

We want every family to commit to reading Mr. Popper's Penguins at home from January 10th to March 6th. We will have activities at school to promote and enrich the shared reading experience.

If you family accepts the challenge to read Mr. Popper's Penguins at home each night from January 10th - March 6th please email melissa.wilson@cps.k12.ar.us to sign your family up for the Penguin Experience!

We will have our School Wide Assembly on January 10th to pass out books.

On March 7th we will have a "Special Event" with a "Special Guest" to celebrate our "Reading Streak"!

Reading to children for 15 minutes a day sounds simple, but the results are complex and permanent. Reading sharpens the imagination, creates healthy dialogue, and promotes a love of reading!

Report Cards

Report Cards will be sent home with your child on Thursday, January 9th.

A PTO meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 14th beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Hope to see you there.

4th Grade G/T Quiz Bowl

4th Grade G/T Quiz Bowl Tourniment will be held Friday, January 24th. Please see Mrs. Dalton for additional information.

Lunch Accounts

Remember our policy does not allow for lunch charges. Send money with your child in a sealed envelope with name and grade level or you may use www.ezschoolpay.com/.
