Ball Park Newsletter - #6

October 5 - 9

Principal's Message

Dear Jackie Robinson K- 8 Community,

Thank you to all the parents that were able to join me during my Principal Community Zoom meeting. As mentioned during last week's Ball Park Newsletter, some changes are coming to our instructional schedules. I want to start with Training Days for Teachers.

Teachers at each school in the Long Beach Unified School District will participate in two days of professional development during the month of October as we continually improve our online instruction. For our school, Jackie Robinson, those two training days will take place on:

October 14

October 22.

During those days, students will not experience direct instruction using Zoom in a large group setting but will continue with asynchronous (non-teacher directed) learning activities. Teachers will provide additional details to their students.

ELEMENTARY ONLY

Adjustments to schedules on some Wednesdays from now until the end of the year will need to be made as well.

Wednesday, 10/7
Wednesday, 10/28
Wednesday, 11/18
Wednesday, 12/2
Wednesday, 12/9
Wednesday, 12/16

Teachers will be provided time to continue to plan and prepare instructional activities for students. On these Wednesdays, students will receive 90 minutes less live instruction from teachers. However, students will still receive asynchronous learning activities to complete on their end. Teachers will provide students with additional details.

I appreciate your understanding as we continue to work together to help enhance student learning.

With appreciation for all your continued support,

Salvador Madrigal

Principal

Salvador Madrigal
