The Lost Boy

The book The Lost Boy By Dave Pelzer is about Dave himself and all that he overcame while he is in foster care. It takes place all across California in all the foster homes he lived in while he was 12 through 18, and what troubles he was having as a teenager. The first foster home Dave was in was with a lady named Alice. Alice was fostering many children at the time and didn't really give Dave very much attention, an that's why he started to steal. He stole to try and fit in and also to attract attention from Alice. Alice took care of him and Dave started to really care for Alice but his Social worker Mrs. Gold knew that it was time for him to move to a new foster home. As he walked into his new foster home he saw a beautiful woman rushing over to him. She smelt like flowers on a warm summer day, Her name was Mrs.Catanze. She decided to take Dave shopping with his money. when they walked into the mall he saw all the new fresh clothes and thought to himself that he'd finally have new clothes. The other foster children Mrs.Catanze was fostering seemed like they didn't accept Dave either so he continued to steal. Unfortunately Mr.Catanze caught Dave stealing and decided to send him to The Hill. The Hill is a place for foster kids to go and to find help for whatever their issue is, in this case its stealing. While David was at The Hill he realized that he should change and began to grow. As Dave Pelzer's social worker once said "If you can survive all that you did young man, I can expect greatness from you."

The first book A Child Called It is the reason why Dave Pelzer to be put into foster care and become who he is today. Dave Pelzer was born in 1960 and when he was just a young boy his life was a living nightmare. His mother tortured Dave in many ways, sometimes she would only feed him the leftover food from his brothers cereal and this caused him to steal. Also, he Became more independent because of all the horrendous thing his mother put him through. Like one time his mother locked him in the bathroom and put a bucket of toxic chemicals and he was almost chocked to death but as always, his mother always kept him alive so he could put him through more physical and emotional distress. Luckily, while he was on the road of death he ran away and a police man saw him and understood what was happening and then caused the trial that put him into foster care to take place.
