Claires Court Bulletin

We all enjoyed our turkey and trimmings yesterday, with many Sixth Form students paying £1 to charity to wear their Christmas jumpers.

After a very busy term you all deserve a rest. Congratulations on completing your UCAS applications and practice exams. Have a happy and restful Christmas.

Mr Giles

After all the Christmas pudding and chocolate santas you may need some way of shedding a pound or two. The new year signals the start of the cross country season and there are a couple of events for you to enter:

The County Cross Country Championships on Saturday 17 January 2015

The ISA Regional Cross Country Championships at Sherfield School on Friday 6 February 2015

Please let me know if you want to be entered before the end of term!

Mrs Rogers

Two students interested in a career in this field attended a fascinating lecture by Professor Paulo Bartolo. He is a world expert in reconstructive surgery and talked about using micro and nano scaffolds for human tissue and how this was applied to reconstructing part of a patient's skull. Both came away enthralled by future possibilities in this area.

GCSE resit Mathematics and English examinations take place in January. Timetables for individual students have been sent out. Please note that the first Mathematics exam is on Tuesday 6 January at 1 pm which is the day BEFORE term begins. The second maths exam is on Monday 12 January, again in the afternoon, and the English exam is on Tuesday 20 January in the morning. All these exams will all be held at the Senior Boys site in Ray Mill Road.

The final list of attendees has gone in and we are now all looking forward to our party.

Wednesday 17 December 7.30 - 11.30 pm

Magnolia Park Country Club, Valley Road, Hughenden Valley, High Wycombe, HP14 4LA.

The theme for the party is 'TV Characters' so there should be plenty of scope for imaginative costumes.

Toby Jones and Jonathan Cameron were invited to a GB rowing training day last Sunday and as a result Jonathan has been chosen as one of 11 boys of his age group in England to attend a winter training camp in Nantes, France. Toby also performed well on the day but was not selected. Classmate Emma Moores, who rows for Windsor Excelsior, was also selected for camp but has deferred until February due to an injury.

The closure of one part or all of the School is a rare event, but as winter is now approaching and the weather is getting colder, we would like to remind parents that full guidance is available on the School website.

SnowFlow Cascades have already been sent home to all those who have returned their details. Parents are reminded to check the School website’s homepage for updated information during any period of bad weather.

The menus for next term are now online, but will be offered from Monday 15 December in line with the new Allergen legislation.
